Thank you - Ive had the Dyson vacs for about 5years now and have always needed to wait for either my husband or daughter to come home to empty - even tho they have shown me multiple times - I have never been successful - so watched your video and have been able to rock off the canister two times now! INDEPENDENCE!!!

I am having the same problem. I just got the V 12 for a Christmas gift. From the beginning, it was hard to remove the wand. I was able to use the vacuum, remove the tube to empty the bin, put the tube back. Now, I cannot remove the tube at all. I tried your suggestions, but the tube does not budge. I am so frustrated!!!

Thanks for your video! My new out of the box Dyson V12 would not detach from the base. When I couldn't separate the wand from the base, I called Dyson. They are allowing me to return this V12 and they will send a new V12. I ever had this problem with my V10. Thanks for showing how you did it; otherwise, I would have had to find a bigger box to return the wand attached to the base.
@AroundTheHome1Ай бұрын
Wow, that's great that you were able to get a replacement so quickly! Glad I could help you out.

@@AroundTheHome1 I had to allow the Dyson assistant to connect to my phone so he could video record how it was stuck and my pushing down the red button didn't release the wand. I also tried wiggling it without success. Then I found your video technique on how to wiggle it but it took several minutes to do so. It probably helped that they could see I had purchased the V10 a few years ago without any issues.

I have recently bought a V12 and have a hard time fully getting it to connect and then impossible to get off to empty. I was going to exchange my machine but now im wandering if i should go with a different brand?
@AroundTheHome1Ай бұрын
Any luck getting it apart easier?
@Cherryblossom1973Ай бұрын
No, this technique sort of works but it is still a pain to take off and on for me to want to use it very much and the bin is quite small.
@AroundTheHome1Ай бұрын
Well, this is a review that I did across 3 different models / price points. It might be helpful. Though, all the bins will be small. It's part of what makes these cordless vacs so versatile. kzbin.info/www/bejne/l5qkpmdoq6p-abM

I just called Dyson about my new V12 wand getting stuck to the base. Since it is still under warranty, they are sending me a new one, and I'm returning this one since it isn't worth it to have a difficult-to-use, expensive vacuum. The V12 bin is smaller than my V10 bin which works like a breeze. I don't mind the smaller bin since the vacuum is lighter and I don't have to hold the trigger down the whole time. I'm older so ease of use is important. Definitely call Dyson if you are still under warranty. They are easy to work with. Tell them you are tired of struggling with disconnecting the bin from the wand. They sent me a shippling label via email. Good luck.

You think it would be ok to spray alittle WD40 Silicone on a paper towel and wipe those areas with it?
@AroundTheHome1 Жыл бұрын
Even though I love WD-40, it is oil based. That means that it would attract dirt and make things worse. I am not sure about the Silicone lubricant.

Curious to know how the wd40 worked? If you shouldn't use an oil based product what is the recommendation for lubricating that button to make emptying the debris easier? Would some kind of powder make the tube surface slicker?
@larryzuckett259810 ай бұрын
I used silicone spray, just a little, and it worked great. You will probably have to occasionally clean the tube and inside the canister where the tube connects and reapply the silicone lubricant

@AroundTheHome1 Жыл бұрын
The red button does need to be pressed down. I have not come across a time that the button got stuck. I wish I had more tips on that problem.
@larryzuckett259810 ай бұрын
The red button is really a lever. You need to push it at the bottom of the red button to release it.
@briankratzer8190 Жыл бұрын
Should recommend wiping/cleaning with lighly dampened cloth and letting dry before putting together. If there is an O-ring or seal, see if it can be removed and cleaned because dirt can get behind them as well, causing parts to bind no matter what visible dust/dirt you see initially .
@larryzuckett259810 ай бұрын
Although this helps to remove the tube, my wife still has issues with removing it. I put a little silicone spray on the end of the tube and it comes off easy now. Now this may cause the tube to collect more dust and cause it to stick again, but for now it comes off easy. May need to occasionally clean the tube and inside where the tube connects.
@AroundTheHome110 ай бұрын
Not a bad idea. Let me know how the silicone spray works. It's not oily so hopefully it doesn't attract too much dirt.

I have had this exact problem on and off for 3 years. I’ll pull and twist and pull - nothing. Five minutes later, repeat and … off it pops! No rhyme or reason. Dyson has replaced the wand, bin and body TWICE and still the same problem. Dyson said this is NOT a “known problem” which I find hard to believe. I searched out your video just now and tried your method, ever hopeful. Nope. That sucker will NOT come off. I love my Dyson V11 but am at my wits end!! Any other suggestions?

This trick works for me, but if I would suggest something else it may be a silicone based lubricant like this. www.amazon.com/DuPont-Teflon-Silicone-Lubricant-Aerosol/dp/B00D3ZKVAS?crid=231P2ZVUO6X9C&keywords=silicone%2Blubricant%2Bspray&qid=1691357964&sprefix=silicone%2Blubricant%2Bspray%2Caps%2C132&sr=8-1-spons&sp_csd=d2lkZ2V0TmFtZT1zcF9hdGY&th=1&linkCode=ll1&tag=greatwhitenin-20&linkId=613fbef57f9a171b4fe02b69d7625afa&language=en_US&ref_=as_li_ss_tl I haven't needed it, but if you try it let me know if that helps.

Does the v11 and v12 have the same tube?
@AroundTheHome111 ай бұрын
To my knowledge the V10, V11, and V12 have the same tube. Though they could have updated something and there might be a difference in the models. They separate the same way, but if you are looking for replacement parts I am not sure on that.
