BABYMETAL is from Japan. I don't usually emphasize that, but I want to make that clear, here, ha. I like the live video better than the MV for this song. But I guess the MV is an outgrowth of their hidden aggression, lol. At 1:13, it said '天下一メタル武道会 (Tenka ichi Metaru budo kai)'.This is a parody of the Japanese famous Manga/ Anime, 'Dragon Ball', which was also the Subtitle of their 2014 Budokan 2days concerts (for the first day of them). I guess it means 'the best martial arts tournament under heaven' and in (Rap) Metal, haha. I'm glad you like Japan, but Japanese culture is not all about manga, anime and kawaii stuffs. We have some ones that are shifty and cool. But when we, Japanese, look at your thick arms, we can't compete with your strength, no matter what we think, haha. As is the case in sports, Japan counteracts the gap between the power of the West and the rest of the world with techniques and variations. Oh, btw, the Beijing Winter Olympics will be starting soon in China. I have mixed feelings about it, but I hope all the athletes will do their best in the world and be safe. Thank you from Japan.

Good reaction, thanks! First, my favorite song before discovering BABYMETAL was "The Trooper" by Iron Maiden :) With that said, you seem to be more open minded metalheads than I really am. Because I was so skeptical with this studio version when it first came out. The live version made me change my mind but I'm still not totally over the voice effects on this track. Okay, I admit it: I'm old-school. Anyway, Su kills it live 🔥🔥🔥

I don't entirely disagree with the sentiment here but I think it depends on the reasoning, when used for a purpose I think it can be sick, like it is used here. When it's used to hide bad vocals, I hate it. In this it was purposeful with a very intended affect, so I dig it.

Nice reaction. This video dropped at the start of lockdown from covid. A total surprise to everyone. You're right a Mortal Kombat vibe for sure. The lyrics are basically a rap distrack. The usual kind of put downs you may find in rap but done with a Japanese flavor. The rusty old chain referring to folks who are the metal gate keepers or just old metalheads as old and worn out. Fun rap stuff. But when you add in Su-metals vocals and that riff. It becomes far more than just it's parts. Because mixing genres is what Babymetal does best you had to know a song like this was coming. We just didn't know it would be this good. and when they do this live it becomes great. And somehow, they still have their Kawaii element in it. I'm calling it out Moa used cheat codes. She hits the enemy with fire from her hands. Then she multiplies and then she flashes those dimples. How's anyone suppose have a chance after that combo. The dimple flash is her kawaii mode. As Moa puts it Kawaii beats all. I'm not even going to talk about Su using godmode. Boss fight, ha ha never had a chance and didn't even know it. A lot like Babymetal haters. K.O.d

I remember walking around Kyoto in one of the big market squares and hearing babymetal constantly playing in anime stores and clothing shops. It was such a breath of fresh air seeing how unafraid the Japanese are to play heavier music in normal stores. Love this reaction and I'm happy to see you guys keep on going!
