Dallas wrote this after his good friend died while swimming in Australia: “Meant to Be” became an elegy to his dear friend and longtime producer-engineer, Karl Bareham, who drowned while the band was touring Australia in 2019.

Gotta love City and Colour.. I've seen Dallas live a couple of times now and I think the experience is amazing. It's so different from a rock or metal concert where you jump and mosh and scream, which I also totally love. But it's beautiful to simply stand and sway and close your eyes and enjoy the music. His voice just hits different ❤

Saw him a few years ago in cologne and it was easily the greatest concert experience I ever had.

I accidentally stepped on Dallas Green once. I was leaving a shop and he was walking by on the sidewalk, and we had a minor collision. In true Canadian fashion, both of us apologized.

I’ve actually heard from my cousin, who lives in Canada, that it’s kinda well known Dallas is a bit of a dickhead. Hurt me to hear it, very reliable source though

@user-by9vr1xy7x I've lived in St. Catherines, and some of the people I've met who went to High-School with him, had said the same thing about him in his early years. But recently, reading and hearing about people who had the chance to meet him say that he's become more humble. I guess it took a few years for him to change his ways.

@@JT-ne8du I've heard the same, but most of those reports are always people bothering him when he is eating or like watching sports and honestly if that's the case then I don't blame him lol. But I also hear that he is very kind during concerts, meet and greets or random encounters... So yeah it's a mix lol
@MrHydeRager Жыл бұрын
@@JT-ne8du He's a bit gruff. I don't think he's a dickhead, though. I got to enjoy part of a concert with him and a few other guys from Alexisonfire at a festival they were playing. We shot the shit and my impression is that he's just blunt and direct. This was recent, though, so I can't speak to how he was back in the day.

Hadn't taken the time to listen to this, thanks for sharing it. There isn't much departure from his past couple albums, but the twang, vocal layering, and the chorus walk down are great components. Having followed him his entire career and learned most of his songs, it's not his best, but the emotion is there and it's certainly a great track. Shout out to the Happiness by the Kilowatt reference!
@Cmoore7182 жыл бұрын
He just released an acoustic version of just him playing the guitar. So much better, raw and emotional. Knowing now that he wrote the song after the loss of his close friend, it’s a lot harder to listen to.
