My Diggersby recently got admitted to the hospital. I was so incredibly sad. I couldn’t fathom losing him. I remember catching him on Route 2 when he was a mere Bunnelby. He’s been my best friend for as long as I can remember. The nurse comes up to me. She says, “we have the results sir. Brace yourself. Here you go” and hands me the x-rays. I gasp. Here’s an idea for a tournament - Bo5s with the rule that you cant use any pokemom used in previous games. So game one is standard OU but the last game can have as many as 48 pokemon banned. It could lead to a lot of adaptation and theorycrafting, like whats OP with Lando off the board or what sweepers become unstoppable with toxapex gone Possible fun bonus: If you play a monotype team you get to use ONE uber. Its probably too weak to start out with but after 30 mons banned it starts to become more of a play

I think this idea has potential. The one thing I don't like about your ruleset is that picking the strongest mons bans them from your opponent too, so can't play the long game by saving your big important mons like Lando-T for the second round. Plus you could selectively ban mons to remove counters to your next round's sweeper, which just kinda feels a bit cheesy since rather than reacting to your opponent's choices that limit their own team, you get to just force your own planned strategy through. I'm also a bit pessimistic about the monotype -> 1 uber rule, I feel like nothing good would come out of it. There's a pretty narrow sweet spot between it being non-viable and 6-0ing OU/UU mons with something ridiculous like Xerneas or Arceus. it's hard to believe that this rule would ever result in fun games of Pokemon even if the teambuilding aspect is interesting.

@@dm9910 The first part is partially what you should be doing - remove counters for your next round's sweeper or wall. The mediating factors are of course 1) your opponent can set up their own sweeper and 2) your opponent can always just also use that sweeper you nicely set up for them. A set up that's too telegraphed will either have counters that are too obvious or will just end up being used by your opponent as well, giving you no advantage - this leads you to go for more subtle set ups, or unusual ones that your opponent won't recognize You might be right about the one uber rule. I really like the idea of it but it might be a bad idea in a practical sense. Its definitely a side idea to the other one

since you mentioned playing aaa, could you try out sturdy endeavor togekiss? here's the set: Togekiss @ Shell Bell Ability: Sturdy Level: 1 EVs: 1 Spe Bashful Nature - Endeavor - Extreme Speed - Thunder Wave - Protect a lot of the teams right now are focused on HO with regenerator cores which get heavily chipped down (e.g. pixilate koko, azelf, terrak, etc.) rocky helmet also damages first, so shell bell heals to full if you werent 1 hp prior

I've got a video introducing the monotype tier and acting as a good primer, that would be the best place to start imo. But if you're looking for sample teams, just google sword and shield monotype sample teams and follow the link to the forums. Beyond that I very often link my teams in the description
