Mono ice is great in most situation. Monsters like Galar-Darm, Kyurem, mamo and weavile hit like a truck and ttheirnwide move pool make it hard for things to come in safely. Then we have great walls like Avalug, cloyster, piloswine, cryogonal and rotom frost that can eat up hits while hitting hard in their own right (plus the latter two can additionally serve as defog/spin support). Toss in a veil setter like Ninetails or Vanillux, and some other neiche mon to deal with coverage and resistances and you’ve got a great offensive team that hits a large number of other typings

Galvantula would be a great member of the team. Sash, has a fast Sticky Web, and can pivot with Volt Switch. Compound Eyes means you can use Thunder, which should hit Toxapex decently.

Something I love about mono-bug is how you have some insanely strong priority users. I use SD Scizor and banded Golisopod. Heracross and Volcarona are definitely the main heavy hitters, but that priority cleanup at the end is invaluable. This is great content btw, I'm new to the channel and I love it!

Even though I love monobug, it's disappointing how useless bug type attacks are. I hardly ever keep bug type attacks on my mons except for the utility (like uturn). Like you, I kept megahorn on heracross, but I'd recommend taking a long hard look at how useful it actually is. Psychics can get taken care of by knock off, dark types get taken care of by close combat, and grass types are no threat to monotype bug at all. Taking into account the less than stellar accuracy, I'd strongly recommend removing megahorn for any other coverage attack.

At least some of the utility options are pretty fun to play with. In addition to U-Turn, of course, there is also Leech Life's HP recovery, Lunge's guaranteed attack drops on the target, and First Impression's nasty priority and strength. It's always disappointing when the only strong bug attack learned by a bug type is X-Scissor simply because it doesn't have any utility. In spite of this I always run X-Scissor on the Crustle on my team and do very well with it, so it has its place just the same. And yes, I unironically use Crustle. I don't know why no one uses it when I'm constantly utilizing Sturdy to stop enemy sweeps or get its own Shell Smashes rolling later in the game. Really underrated for mono-bug teams.

Playing Gen 7 and just decided to go for monotype bug for the BattleTree. Was thinking mega beedrill for sweeps, shuckle for safe switch and checks and pp stall, and volcarona for steel, bug and fire neutralizing. Anyone have other cool bugs? I haven't touched bugs much so I'm somewhat rookie to the typing, I've only had experience in bug poison/bug steel

For mono fire and, flying i think about arachanid with water spot and rain dance + a thunder galvantula, spot for fire and Sun team ( spot stay so u dont fight for climat with rain until u get the Sun out of the way, rain dance to one shot flying type with 100% accuracy thunder stab) but im too lazy to Make a team around and try what it does in reallity ( a lot of other bugs Can setup the rain against flying cuz arachanid doesn't like birds)

So this is a while back obviously but I do a mono bug team and I use araquanid as a super bulky lead and nothing in attack. With water bubble liquidation it does so much damage for a utility lead that you don't need much else.

I just ran this team vs a mono poison team with Sub + 3 attacks Buzzwole and was able to force a Toxapex out and beat it later with Armaldo. It seemed to work pretty well since he couldn't break my sub with one scald. Earthquake was key,

I love bug type since Gen 3. And I love the love they have given to it in Gen 5 with the addition of Genesect and Volcarona. I did a mono-bug semi-trick room team and got to Ultra Ball and can't go further. Lol. I'm sorry I lost my Showdown link but my lineup was: Butterfree @ Choice Scarf (for Rage Powder) Dottler @ Eviolite (For Trick Room) Golisopod @Life Orb (Trick Room Physical Sweeper) Vikavolt @Choice Specs (Trick Room Special Sweeper) Scolipede @ Leftovers (Physical Sweeper outside TR) Volcarona @ Focus Sash (Special Sweeper outside TR) My all time favorite Pokemon, Heracross seems out of place on my team so I don't have him. My team is kinda messed up but I got to control the balance when I need it. I can go speedy, or TR if needed. But your idea of Buzzwole feels like I need to try the mono-bug again. Thanks bro. as a long time monobug player i will advise to try out sticky web with galvantula the electro helps with a lot of match ups and 100% accurate thunder waves(thank god compound eyes) are always handy, i know galv requires the sash but araquanid doesn't need sticky anymore so Av is pretty darn good option now (choice band too if u feel risky)

I rarely see any successful utilization of Sticky Web anymore (especially with the addition of HDB), so I actually just dropped it on my National Dex Galvantula set and ran Thunder, Energy Ball, Thunder Wave, and Hidden Power Ice instead. With those and a sash it acts as an almost perfect lead for my mono-bug team against every opponent and is extremely good at stopping the enemy team from their usual early-game tricks. The only downside is that without HP Ice Galvantula is useless against stuff like Landorus-T and I can't really use it outside of National Dex anymore, but National Dex is generally more fun to play anyway.
