I really don´t know what today´s common practice in Sweden is, but standing up and turning towards the Royal or Imperial balcony was common in Europe when the great monarchies still existed.

I don’t believe it is, I have no idea why they seem to do it in this clip. The national anthem is about the land and it’s history and has 0 connection to the royal family, it’s not sung Towards them, I’m not sure if the protocol regarding “the royal anthem” is different though perhaps they mixed it up.

S M they don’t face the royal family not even the king when it’s sung at the national day and we do love our royal family especially the crown princess family but serenading the national anthem to them is not something we do since it’s a song serenading our nature and the land. When we sing it we normally just face forward or towards the orchestra, this is the ONLY kilp I’ve seen where they do this

I was also struck by this fact. I have never seen this happen before - my immediate thought was "Oh they treat her as a king!" then I realized not even the king is treated in this way. It's quite beautiful though. The camera zooming out at 1:01 with them all facing her in the center was quite movielike!

I do not understand the Swedish language very well. I went to Sweden and saw the museum on the "ship called WASA." I did not know of the ill fate of the "ship Wasa." I just knew the ship was built and the ship was meant to be correctly constructed. I do not care to know about the sad fate of the "ship Wasa."
