every time i hear her yell "ARE YOU LISTENING" it gives me chills and brings tears to my eyes. this woman's message, in music and spirit, is much more powerful than "get wasted and party and have sex" like most pop stars. she wants us to love ourselves for our different lifestyles, looks we were born with, bodies, and the people we are. therefore, i will never fathom why she receives so much hate for what she's doing.

Coming here bc this was featured on an ABC original 4 night series, "When We Rise" about the history of the gay liberation and gay rights movement. Today, we have legal marriage equality yet we are still fighting the fight. But, one of the most amazing things I can say is this series has taught me and my generation that were just coming into realization as to what this is and the fight that this has been a long time. The fight has been long and all generations will fight. My generation and the generations before and after mine will keep on fighting. Every generation has its spark. Mine was the most anti-LGBTQ+ man and vice president being elected into office and only months before the most deadly shooting we have had in America. That also happened to kill 53 of our LGBTQ+ brothers and sisters. For later generations, I hope that the series that I looked this up from is the spark to get them to join in the fight that our past brothers and sisters alike have fought. This may not be read by anyone... from the looks of things I don't think anyone has read or left a comment here in 3 years. But, if anyone does read this, now or 10-20 years from now, know that whatever fight you're fighting. Just started or has been long overdue, will happen if we all just fight hard and long enough. Before the gay liberation movement of 1971 no one knew that 44 years later it would be legal for same sex couples to legally marry. Now its your chance. Because no generation is ever silent, every generation has something that they have stood up for. Let whatever fight you have be it.

This woman is truly iconic, and truly inspirational. Nowadays a lot of gay youth don’t understand the battle and fighting that was done not so long asgo for being openly and unapologetically gay. She is one of the few that shaped gay rights movement in this time. She was so vocal about gay people and her love for them. I was in high school struggling to find myself, struggling to accept my homosexuality , and her music and her persona, and her outspokenness aided me to be happy and accepting. She was a strong and influential voice for marriage equality she is just , just so influential

The mention "God, cosmos, intellectual unity" is as seperate possibilities/theories of what it would take to change all of humanity, which is not likely to occur. I'm simply stating that humanity is far from enlightenment as a whole, and the journey to do so is hardly by way of legislation. I didn't say people can't live their lives as they wish, please see the point.

Re@Laimek You don't need to be gay to want everyone to have equal rights. You wouldn't have to be a dog to tell someone that beating one is wrong. Lady Gaga is standing up for what she believes is right, and she's not just just a woman who sings. She carries that star power and ability to draw attention to an important matter. That's exactly what she is doing.

She has been famous since 2008, and had a career starting 2006, so yes, 1 or 3 years is pretty long to me. In that career, she has managed to become a shockingly successful artist in what you yourself see as a short span in comparison. I'm only comparing how they stand behind a stand and speak, not what they have done :] Logic, again.

In terms of her music, appearance and not being afraid to stand up for what she believes in, that is what makes her brilliant. I admire those who are different and inspire people to be themselves -while standing up for their beliefs- rather than someone who knows calculus and can quote Ulysses verbatim. I'm sorry if you're so one sided that you can only see brilliance in those who are gifted scholastically.

From a different perspective, she is actually more eloquent than one would assume from her stage image. Also, to those that are trollin' on her, you are certainly welcome to helping create social equality. If you're not doing anything good in this world, your criticism means nothing.

@DERWENT170213 жыл бұрын
She's amazing. I love it when people with that much power over the modern world use it for something that actually matters. Some singers advertise lipstick, or fashion labels... and people buy it because they admire the singer. But Gaga advertises this, and we listen because we love her, if everybody with influence signed there name to something that mattered then maybe they could change the world.

Why do people have problems with other people in the first place? Why cant everyone just be ... nice? Normal? Happy? I dont get it. But im glad she's bringing attention to this issue, and probably grabbing a young audience for the cause as well.
@coolmaplestore15 жыл бұрын
Because she has used her entire successful career to consistently speak up for LBGT rights. She's a FAMOUS woman, who will be KNOWN for what she has ALREADY done. It's just like how Obama has more right than ANYBODY to speak in his rallies; He has done so much more. It's logic.

There needs to be demonstrations held in every crevice of the country at the same time .There are plenty of people that live in middle America that support the gays but they haven't had the opportunity to stand up. It's a powerful statement to be in one place in a huge number , it's even more powerful to be everywhere at the same time, for the same cause.Imagine every place that has a gay community marched at the same time .
@coolmaplestore15 жыл бұрын
That's not even what she's trying to do. She is just, after all, speaking her mind and demanding like every other LBGT person for equality and rights. Get that through your skull.
@Banabo015 жыл бұрын
You are wrong on so many levels. If you can't understand she is trying to make a difference, you can actually hear the compassion and empathy and caring in her voice. Don't try to call Gaga fake, because she isn't. She is herself, and nothing more, nothing less. we should all strive to be ourselves.

Yes, because SO many heterosexual couples help create "healthy" families; The divorce rate is skyrocketing, teen pregnancy has become common, parents beating their kids or pushing religion and hate onto them. Gay couples, who are going well out of their way to become parents, deserve it a lot more than a lot of heterosexual "healthy" couples.
@JREX9015 жыл бұрын
Yes, because an artist who actually writes songs with a meaning is DOOMING the industry. Lady Gaga combines great lyrics with a killer beat, she creates something that has meaning and you can dance to it as well. And if you even listened to the lyrics of Bad Romance, you'd know that the song is about love. She's saying how when it comes to love, she wants it all; The good parts, the bad parts and everything inbetween... because that is what true love is all about to her.

@RavensFan281215 жыл бұрын
Yep, that's what I'm saying. It's not prejudice or hatred just because someone is raised a Christian and has been taught that it's wrong. That's not hatred. It's their belief system. Do you see the difference, or are you not allowed to stray away from the party line of screaming, "Hate, nazis, homophobes." and all other terms activists like to use?
