As a Brit, it was sort of the other way round for me. There wasn't a lot of horror on television and the certification system was far stricter. There were, however, a lot of foreign films, classics and art house films on BBC2 . A bit later there was channel 4. That's what I was watching in the late 1970s-1980s. Paperbacks were my main horror fix as a child and youth. I miss the cool cover art they used to have. I would never have got into that kind of thing with the dull covers they have now.

Veritas Inquisitor. And you will see tons of artsy shorts if you watch Twin Peaks and Twin Peaks the Return. David Lynch was something else!

You made the point that sexual attractiveness has become much more important in todays cinema. I might agree with that. However, i believe the actual requirement in all the eras of cinema has been sexiness; That each and every one of us has sexual nature and that as humans we must accept that we are primarily the result of sexuality. Just because you are the object of sexual attraction, does not mean you are worthy of it. That may be our problem. "Whomever" may believe that because they are the object of desire, that they are worthy it. No, generally you are born attractive, your fucking bones and shit like that. You may understand how to be attractive physically, and do whatever it is to remain that way, but that does not mean you are special. If we give too much attention to those who essentially have been gifted by two hot people who fucked, well... we're not doing ourselves any favors. I invite anyone who has sexuality through other means besides what god gave them.

The gym-perfect model look is, like many other things, a typical American malaise. European and British movies usually have normal-looking people in them.

Hey, Rob What do you think of the Resident Evil Franchise? & Have you heard of a new Movie being made? Because of that News I started my Re-Watch of the Films. I finished the Fifth Film Retribution & Uploaded a Video on my KZbin Channel. I think even though the Story was Crap it was Surprisingly Game Accurate for instance including characters like Jill Valentine, Ada Wonk, & Leon on Screen. 🤪🤩🥰🥳

Rob nobody cares about the TVA or how it "breaks believability" as you see it,lol. None of this is believable, trying to argue otherwise is incredibly unconvincing for all the phases. That goes for phase 1 to whatever phase they're in now. People who watched loki generally liked both seasons, nobody cares how realistic it is they just want to be entertained. People don't like the most recent phases of Marvel because the characters are less interesting and the movies generally bad. You're overthinking this.

It is believable. You're confusing veracity with verisimilitude. The problem is that the TVA is omnipotent, and that robs it of verisimilitude. They can literally do whatever, and when the plot is just "do whatever to move on to the next plot item", your story is no longer believable.

@alexandresobreiramartins9461 the tva is not presented as being omnipotent, do you even know what that means? Lol. They have rules. But if you try to judge how "realistic " all these mcu/dc/fantasy movies are in absolute terms none of them are. Trying to draw distinctions between the TVA and say ego the living planet or Iron Man in terms of realism is laughable. People can suspend their disbelief if there is an internal logic to the plot and the story/writing is good. Rob talks about verisimilitude as if its the sole deciding factor on whether people will enjoy these films, which is ridiculous.

I don’t get it, I think the look of F4 looks great. Way different from all the other mcu films. On the other hand Superman looks kinda goofy. It’s the damn Red cameras.

Horrifyingly optimistic about what Trump has been doing over the past week… “How far do you want to go for your beliefs?” “America needs both progressive and conservative thoughts working together to succeed?” Feelings aren’t facts, but I feel like you more enjoy stringing words together somewhat potentially than actually thinking about what it is you are saying. I think you are giving an overly simplistic and misleading framing when you say conservative and progressive thoughts must come together. You assume both labels inherently represent some balance when really they’ve just been historical political categories. Kind of disappointing.
