I just wanted to take a moment to thank videographer Lane Milbrand for sharing that stunning video of the salmon run in Washington State. It was absolutely breathtaking! The sights and sounds of nature were so captivating, and it really gave me a deeper appreciation for the incredible journey these fish undertake. Your thoughtful gesture truly brightened my day!

Thank you Cheryl for your compliments. I find the subjects and capture the images but my friend Dave edits the segments.

Salmon are already spawning in tributaries of the Klamath river that have been inaccessible for decades. It gives me hope :)

Don't forget to thank all the tribes that worked hard getting dams removed to bring back their main source of food.

I live next to a small river and years ago the Salmon run was so huge that people would stand along bridges and along the river bank to view. After spawning ,the red fish would die and line the beaches. The November air would have a decaying fish smell. It hasn't been like that for many years.

I lived on property in 3 different locations in Washington that participated in the salmons journey back to their spawn beds and it was mesmerizing yet at the same time a bit heartbreaking to watch them for days on end fighting their way upstream and along the river beds finding cover under overhanging creek banks and in the shade of shallow pools before returning to the relentless battle The different stages they would be in as they physically mutated and their scales turned from a beautiful dappled silver to different shades of red There would be so many of them It was as if you could've walked across the river upon them just as Jesus did the Red Sea ... I am grateful I got to live where I witnessed this miraculous event

I’ve witnessed this on the WA peninsula. Absolutely amazing to see a 30 pound fish go through what almost amounts to runoff water. In the end they seem to spin when spawning and die with mutilated and missing fins. Then they die and some are eaten by eagles. The carcasses litter the forest floor. The rest float downstream and rot.

I love my lox, and I know why. Salmon are incredibly unstoppable, even against the current.
