At 13:30, definitely Royal Fern (Osmunda regalis). Same genus as Cinnamon Fern, but distinctly different form. Beautiful fern!

Love your commentary! But the captions really need a good editor. (Check out the section about river cane.) Anyhow, I am learning a tremendous amount from your videos. Thank you.

My neighbors have planted I don't know how many Azaleas over the years and they don't do very well. Any tips for them?

We used to go “huckleberry” picking when I was a kid in what I’m guessing is the Appalachian foothills. It was a long time ago so I don’t quite remember where it was. Talk about red bug city my sister and I were young so we sat down a lot and dang they would do their worst. 🤣🤣 We found some cane on our property, we thought at first it was small bamboo the kudzu had stunted and then we realized it wasn’t and it’s actually cane. It’s a small patch so we’re going to try to nurture it as best we can.

Where can you purchase native plants to Shelby county Alabama?

Hey what was the plant with the edible legume pods that grew on the roots underground and you said just make sure not to harvest them if beavers are around because of the risk of giardia? I can't think of the name of the plant and it's driving me nuts

I love your videos I happened to come upon one where you were talking about an area near where I live. I have a question I have not seen red winged black birds in my area in some years. I happened to be driving down a road the other day and saw a patch of land with what looks like some undisturbed habitat. Its right next to a construction sight though where they are putting up office buildings. I saw what I think is called swamp sunflowers. Along with some native dandelion and some non native thistles and a bunch of other scrub I couldn’t identify. Is there a way to ask to collect seeds from something like those plants. I know their is no way to stop them bush-hogging it down a moments notice. I thought you might have some advice for me. I saw several red wings just dipping and gliding over the plants and perching on some I wasn’t sure what they were. If you have any advice I would appreciate it and I had no idea my area used to have grass the size thar was tall or taller than a man.

Also not is this video but to you know what in the world that sticky grass is that you can pull up and put on a persons back and have it stick lol. I used to do it to my daddy all the time but couldn’t never find a name for it.

Those look way better than non-native azaleas. And I'm sure they don't spew poisonous seeds out either. And is that a native wild turkey you're hunting for? Those things are so hard to find nowadays. They're intelligent unlike the dumbed down domesticated turkeys they have on corporate farms. And bravo to the land managers to cutting down loblollies and leaving behind short and long leaf pines. Down here we have tons of yellow pine which sucks. All planted by lumber companies.
