Okay, so KZbin is now putting ads on my videos without my permission. Please just refresh and keep refreshing until only my video shows up. Thank you. Visit me at www.GourmetPaperMache.com or www.PaperMacheBlog.com. And yes....maybe Alduin next.

Move over White Zombie dragon That Yellow/Golden one is AMAZING, It legit looks terrifying, that white eye just gives it that "undead" finish, without a doubt it's my new favorite. I was actually surprised, when I saw the purple eyed one had different horns, I think you haven't done horns like that before, if it's a first I really like it. The Hairs kinda gave it that velociraptor type look which was a change but didn't like the scales on that one. That purple eye though, is a very welcome touch.

As a fellow artist, I can really appreciate the amount of effort you always put into these! I want to start doing some paper mache stuff, but I’m a little inexperienced. What kind of paints do you use for stuff like the “saliva” and creases? Is the black stuff just watered down acrylic?
@Gourmetpapermache
@Gourmetpapermache 5 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the nice note! Yes, despite how it looks in the videos it does take significant time and effort to make these. But I enjoy the process so I don't mind. I use clear casting resin for the drool. I'm not sure what you mean about the creases. And yes the blackwashing is just black paint with water added. I use all purpose paint (it's all acrylic these days). Any water based paint will work. Good luck with your art!

Do you think its possible to make a life size creature or human model? Would you recommend using hangers for frame support? LOVE the added lighted bits. My whole day has been watching your videos mostly. Time well spent. New hobby obsession.
@Gourmetpapermache
@Gourmetpapermache 4 жыл бұрын
Again, I'm very flattered. Glad you enjoyed your day learning these techniques. You certainly can make projects that are human sized. Clothes hangers would work even on projects that big. I have also used aluminum bars and round tube held together with pipe clamps. PVC is also great for armatures for large projects. Good luck to you!

👌👌👌 very cool as always but I am interested by the fact that you used fire to blacken the dragon was it a effect you couldn’t get with paint or was it just easier 👍
@Gourmetpapermache
@Gourmetpapermache 6 жыл бұрын
Thank you Connor. With the fire I was able to get some great burnt edges on the horns and curled burnt pieces of cloth. It looks a lot better in person. Photos don't do it justice. I've used fire before (see my Dark Butterfly video). It is a cool effect for some projects. Btw I sealed it afterwards with spray on Varathane.

Awesome :D. I did a 5 ft long paper mache dragon in high school already so long ago, but once in awhile I wish I could do it again (no space at home). How are the teeth made? :) my mom figured pop cans were good but that held up only long enough for the school art show....they always fell off and looked not so great.

Man, this is all just so amazing! I love your job, you do it i a way that's looks so real. I have a question: how you fix the neck on the wood? I am doing a dragon head's but I don't know how to fix the neck!!
@Gourmetpapermache
@Gourmetpapermache 6 жыл бұрын
Thank you Sarah. I drill holes in the wood plaque and push pieces of wire clothes hangers through. Then I bend them on the back of the plaque and use staples to hold them. I attach the other ends of the wire to the neck of the trophy and then sculpt over them with the cloth mache. You can see this on this video, kzbin.info/www/bejne/lWSapqqPZ9OdqdU at the 1:00 mark. Good luck Dan

About how long on average does it take to make these? The dragon trophies in general -

Idk. But if someone would ask me, I would say 6 hours. Making the paper mache, sculpting then waiting for the mache to dry and then paint. It takes a lot of time. But it's all my opinion.

These are amazing as usual. I love your dragons! For the white/blue one how did you make the feather looking hair down the spine? It looks so real. I was also wondering if you would be making a new book anytime soon with some new techs? I own all your books so far but you've come up with some new things since so I was curious.

Thanks Tylar! Not sure about the books. They take a very long time to write. It's a year of doing nothing else. I do show some of my new things on my blog. The mane on this dragon is just hair (from a wig) dipped in white glue in strands, then painted. A pain. But I think it made a good effect. Glad you like it!

GourmetPaperMache yes it gave a very good effect! I would have never even. Thought that it could be a wig, but amazing job as usual. I've tried making a smaller dragon myself it's not easy you make it look so effortless. Lol

About a year ago you responded to a comment on your Smaug video where someone said that you should keep up the nerd trend and do Alduin but I have a counter challenge... or challenges so push yourself go beyond your boundaries try new techniques but specifically I think you should do Ancalagon the Black from Tolkien's the Simelarion which has only had fan art so it would give you alot of creative freedom since it has never been shown on screen but you would have to make this one full body as well as massive ps (it would be cool if you could do him with a scene aka three mountains and a elvin magic airship) but that would be your greatest project yet so maybe take it slow with a full body Alduin

Yes, I remember your comment. I can't tell you how many requests I've gotten for Alduin. Of course there are so many cool dragons, and so little time. I love Tolkien. Maybe I'll do Ancalagon some day. Thanks.
