8:12 Some samples in Tracklib have "multi-tracks" which would have stems for the sounds. When there's a specific sound you like and you have this option, definitely utilize it. Much cleaner than EQ isolation.

Your explain is soo good . Every producer who want to make an old school style can take every idea from the tips . That is like masterclass for “choose” of every stuff you need in your beat You could make a video where you explain how to arrange an old school beat . Transients, how to mix it to lower freq as a transition for the next hook or something else 🙏🏼

My beats sound so much better now thanks to you talking about the EQ, i never made space for other instruments in the track and never really EQd so it was a just in the same frequency range sounding whack, but with you advice i now made the grimiest mobb deep type beat imaginable, it got everything: Bells, Sax, Bass, Rhodes, Some Strings everything but thanks to the EQ advice it sound amazing.

What's up Navie D I have a question. When layering a Kick with another kick, In addition to adding an EQ on your secondary kick would you recommend decreasing some of the secondary kick's attack a smidge to make way for the snap of the main kick's attack?
@BK-oi1nd
@BK-oi1nd 2 жыл бұрын
Biggest thing with layering instruments that are the same is phase, especially with low end frequencies like 808s and kicks. If you layer a kick and it doesn’t hit hard, try flipping the polarity of one of the kicks, in addition to carving it out with EQ.

You're a dope producer, Navie. Your love and study of music shows, and your shit is consistently dope. But, I'd like to hear a little more swing in the drums for old school boombap. It also helps to get a sample of vinyl static and add it to the mix. Just enough to dirty the clean samples up and give it that old sampled-vinyl sound. (Especially for those using VST's or stuff like Landr samples.)
