This is a very young Kobe Bryant who wasn't nearly as good as he became later and the Lakers has a trash bench outside of Kobe Bryant. LA didn't even look like they had a real gameplan to stop Utah.

Video evidence of the impact that Phil Jackson had on this team. All of the key parts were already in place. Under Del Harris, the Lakers lacked two major things: A consistent style of play and defensive effort. The Jazz had both. The Spurs had both in 1999...and that's why the Lakers were beaten. They weren't mentally strong enough to win grinding games.
