I watched him at the Garden against the Knicks (we called them The Bricks back then) in his rookie year when he drove down the lane and reverse slammed sideways with a defender on him. His cupping slam on Alton Lister gets the most attention but that one at MSG is probably the most spectacular in-game dunk in the history of basketball given the degree of difficulty. I'm continuously amazed it doesn't get the attention it deserves.

Before starting to watch your video, I was like it's flat-out crazy and utterly absurd that Shawn Kemp ain't in the Hall Of Fame yet! He was one of my favorite players when I was a teen in the 90s! Plus, somewhere in the year 2000 I asked him a question on his Official Website, who was the toughest opponent to guard, and he told me Shaquille O'Neal because he was too big and too strong and that was a very pleasant surprise! Since he probably receives thousands of messages daily, what are the odds of answering my question? But t was very happy when he answered my question! Plus a few days ago I had this dream where I was really awesome friends with Shawn Kemp! I hope my dream comes true! I'd love to be friends with anyone in the NBA, especially with a former or current player. And much love and respect to The Reighman! Hey, Shawn, if you're reading this, thanks for answering my question! You're awesome! One of my favorite players, and you gotta be in the HOF bro! You deserve to be there!

This is three months old? How did I miss this? Shawn is one of my all time favorites, I'm a Sonics fan an he was the real deal at one time. He'd make the building explode every home game, guaranteed. The "old coliseum" really was old in the early 90's, but the atmosphere was awesome. No luxury suites, advertising banners, different levels of seating, nothing. It was court, people an roof an it was awesome. When Key Arena was finished it was cool, way nicer, better seats an way better scoreboard but it never felt the same to me. Now that it's Climate Pledge Arena it's really, really nice. Nicer than I thought it would be, they didn't hold back making the current building. I saw a NHL Kraken game there, it was great. Kemp an Payton are both still trying to get the Sonics back in Seattle, they were in Climate Pledge at a NBA preseason game just a couple weeks ago. I was a fan then an I still am now. They never won the whole thing but they're still legends around here. I love the "Nerf Hoop" reference, Kemp totally made it look like that. This is great, I haven't heard a lot of these interview clips. Thank you for this.

The Sonics team that went to the finals in 96 was special. They took the Bulls to 6 games and played the game with aggression and attitude. Payton is known for being one of the biggest trash talkers to ever do it. But, Kemp let his actions do the talking. Every time the Sonics had the ball in transition, with the ball in Payton's hands and Kemp galloping down the court or Kemp snatched a rebound and went coast-to-coast, there was a sense of expectation that something special was about to happen. As far as the "Lob City" Clippers go... there's no comparison. I'm not saying Paul, Griffin and Deandre Jordan weren't great to watch... but, THERE'S NO COMPARISON when it comes to Payton and Kemp. At his peak, Kemp was feared. At any given moment, Kemp could put someone on a poster/highlight real... forever! Just ask Gatling, Laimbeer and especially Lister. Dunks, put backs, blocks, handles and a very decent shot from 18ft... Kemp 100% deserves to be in the Hall of Fame.
