@michaellarusch43174 ай бұрын
This year's team doesn't come close to '92. The media has to mismatch in order to make them relevant. Why didn't they compare Lebron to MJ? Because there's no comparison. MJ was playing with other stars and stated that he just 'wanted to be one of the boys'. But, when it was needed, he went ballistic (ask Kukoc). The sad thing is, you can go watch the '92 games if you didn't see them live like I did. If you do go watch them, start with the Tournament of the Americas. The US had to qualify to make the Olympics. First game, in the first 4 minutes or so, Magic makes an errant pass. MJ chases it down from the middle of the floor, jumps out of bounds with a behind the back pass to Bird who drains the shot. For me, it's not just about the skill level that the '92 team had that makes them better. They took great pride in playing for their country and winning gold. You can see the pride and the fire in how they played. BTW, MJ, Chris Mullen, and Patrick Ewing had already won gold in '84.

I would understand if they were comparing team USA 2024 to it's 2020 or 2016 even 2012 rosters but they had to go to what people hold to be the highest standard (just like they can't help but talk about MJ) aka 92 roster.

This team isn't even close to the 1996, 2008, or even the 2012 teams. There's no way this team is even coming close to the '92 Dream Team. Magic led the Lakers to the Finals in '91, literally a summer before the '92 Olympics. LeBron had prime Anthony Davis as his teammate and made the playoffs as a 7th seed. Besides, LeBron is 39 years old. Steph is 36. Durant hasn't even played a game yet as he's rehabilitating, and Kawhi was subbed out for a role player. Most of the mainstream media covering basketball are absolutely terrible.

I mean, WHY is Cowherd bringing "Portland Scottie" into this??? In '92 EARLY Prime Pippen....and I'll say this much : Tatum might be more offensively skilled....but '92 Pippen would HOUND him ALL over the court....he'd make him NOT want the ball.....Tatum also couldn't stop Pippen from bringing the ball up and initiating the offense.

What's very telling is: "Only a few of the dream team guys could handle the ball". That's because they played team ball and knew their roles. Every star in the NBA today is an ISO player. When they don't have the ball in their hands, they are valuable as a spot up shooter. Minus Steph Curry because he plays off the ball a lot. ISO ball is fun to watch. But it stagnates the rest of the offense. All the other players can do is get out of the way and spot up unless you play a motion offense. Outside of Golden State and Sacramento nobody plays motion offense. All of these great individuals are stronger than anyone they face in one on one situations. They are the best tough shot makers not only today, but some of them are all time greats. The whole point of basketball is that it's a team sport and the goal isn't to make the toughest shot you can, it's to move the ball around and find the easiest shot you can get. The NBA wants to have guys ISO and take tough shots all day long. It inflates stats and looks good on sportscenter. But the team that gets the easiest shots is going to win the gold. The rest of the world has some great basketball players and great teams. I think that there is a very real chance that USA doesn't bring home the gold, and it's going to be funny to watch all of this coordinated smear campaigning by the media blow up in their faces if it happens.

It is amazing how "experts" should not be allowed to speak publicly. The "Dream Team" was the dream team because the world got to watch Larry and Magic play together as they ended their basketball careers. Jordan was in the middle of his first threepeat and dominating the league. More importantly, this was the first time pros were playing in the Olympics!!! The 1992 included guys who would got 100% every minute. That does not describe ANYONE in the current NBA. Now, everyone is worried about protecting themselves so they can play "forever". Back in 1992, players were trying to win championships. Now, players want money.

My favorite is the Good Fellas clip because it is truly pure laughter to try and make a case that the 2024 Team is better than the 1992 Team. I would like to have seen Barkley on Lebron; and I am curious as to what the opinions are of others regarding match up possibilities between the 1992 and the 2024 Team. Thank you for bringing the truth to the matter and correcting main stream media.

I was wondering who would bring that up😂 OMG the 2024 looked like trash in that game and Joel Embiid forgot what defense was (amongst others). It’s just a joke, there’s a channel called “Awful Coaching” who breaks it down and shows how terrible they were. It was scary how bad they were, and they almost lost to Germany. They’re nowhere near as dominant, and rely on LeBron to bail them out. I could go on, but anyone with eyes can tell the difference.

AD may be better than Ewing in 92 but not admiral. Tatum might be better than pippen but not Clyde or mj.
@atlien19884 ай бұрын
Honestly, I don't even know if I can argue that AD is better than '92 Ewing. It's a debate, but Ewing also averaged 24 points, 11 rebounds, 2 assists, 1 steal, and 3 blocks per game. He finished top five in MVP voting and also made the All-NBA Second Team, but Second Team defense. However, his competition at center was far stiffer than AD's, especially on the defensive side. The Knicks also finished as the fourth seed with 51 wins, while my Lakers won fewer games. Ewing didn't have anyone close to as good as LeBron as a teammate, despite his flaws at 39. Just comparing impact, Ewing was a far more dominant player. AD is more skilled and versatile, but Ewing was simply the better player. Stats can be skewed due to rule differences, officiating, and style of play.
