In 2008 USA team had to beg a aging Kobe Bryant to come join them and save their asses because the young talent on team USA at that time were mentally weak and couldn't deal with the talent around the world. On that team the only guys who were built tough were Kobe Wade and melo. Rest of them dudes folded like lawn chairs under pressure. 92 team had a roster full of mentally tough guys. The only reason many of them didn't finish with rings or more rings is because Jordan was taking all of them.

@richardnebens892817 күн бұрын
The only thing I'll argue against here is that Kobe was aging. He had just won the MVP and gotten to the NBA finals, and this was before back-to-back finals MVPs. @@verholdt not sure parity is the word i'd use. lakers 5 chips, celtics 3 chips, pistons 2 chips, then the bulls win 6 of 8. but your point about guys not running to form super-teams is right on. the lakers and celtics built what are unquestionably super-teams, but did so organically. not big-name players running to play with their big-name friends because they couldn't win organically.

This is a classic example of how power works. Let's call it the "triangle." I'll use the tenants versus the landlord relationship as an analogy. The lord of the land, so to speak, feels that his title allows him to do whatever he pleases regardless of the tenant's wishes, if he can get away with it. The tenants, in this case, Jordan and Scottie, understand that Krause uses his ownership-like influence, like the "lord of the land" which could be arbitrary. Krause also has the added advantage of not worrying about his teammates' opinions. He has no one to answer to in this triangle equation. Donald Trump wants to operate similarly if re-elected President. As Krause has exercised his power and authority to hire Kukoc Jordan, Pippen must thwart Krause's favoritism of Kukoc in their interest and have more decision-making power on the floor. Why most people do see that Jordan and Pippen, for team cohesion and effectiveness, must challenge Krause's option of "meddling" the two sides have different interests. The same applies to the landlord compared to tenants. Kukoc had yet to discover what was in his best interest, his teammates, or the general manager. All Jordan and Scottie were doing was trying to show a new arrival teammate about his teammates on the Bulls. African Americans and some others aside, although Americans are not considered immigrants. Immigrants are directed to appreciate America, not criticize it, no matter what. Even though Americans are capable of understanding some basic facts of why the rent keeps going up they dare not speak up lest they anger their benefactors.

You know that Michael Jordan is easily the greatest and best basketball player of ALL-TIME because now in 2024, 21 years after his retirement in 2003, we are still having very deep discussions and very serious meticulous conversations about Michael Jordan’s near-perfect career in Chicago. Even that Nick Wright dude and Shannon Sharpe spend much more time in their respective lives talking, discussing, conversing, arguing, and debating about Michael Jordan’s near-perfect career in Chicago than they spend time talking about their favorite player’s career - LeBron James. Michael Jeffrey Jordan is on the Mount Rushmore of American professional sports, so Michael Jordan is VERY EASILY the greatest and best basketball player in human history. In fact calling Michael Jordan the GOAT of professional basketball is honestly a gross understatement at this point. Michael Jordan has been the undisputed GOAT of the NBA since 1988 (for 36 years and counting) and all GOAT debates have been far beneath Michael Jeffrey Jordan since 1998 (for 26 years and counting).

@ReticentDuet18 күн бұрын
The 1992 team would dominate whether they played using 1992 rules or 2024 rules; the modern guys couldn't handle getting mugged on every possession like players in the '90s did and the original Dream Team guys would have a field day with today's offense-heavy rules. Bird in particular, even old and broken-down as he was in 1992, would rain threes left and right.

Geez, Nick Wright just needs to be quiet sometimes. The ‘92 Dream Team is exactly as the nickname reflects a dream. It’s a dream come true. When at least a quarter of the team is returning to Olympic play as professionals and you have by far the most popular and arguably best players to fill out the roster, it was made to expand the league and sport worldwide.

I believe 92 is when the NBA was tired if having the "best" players, but college players were not medaling. Thus, the Dream Team formed. No one was going to that team unless winning was in their mind. They delivered. In 2024, there is no guarantee of anything. Foreign players are more in the NBA. Thus, the Olympics are anyone's game. Sadly, I feel Team USA believes they show up and get a gold medal.

This doesn’t even need to be defended honestly because admitting that a group of near-retirement old men beat the brakes off of the world’s greatest makes team USA MORE IMPRESSIVE not less.
