Centers back in the day were incredibly athletic, because of their role they were always trying to be first in the paint offensively and defensively. the problem is - how do you divide between divas and people who actually hurt themselves or worse, when a player is a diva but has factually hurt his knee at some point as usual, laws were put in place for a society that consisted of law abiding players, and some spineless people have ruined the system over the last 20 years. abusing the charity that should be reserved for actually injured players.

@@leonhardable I find the problem specific to that lies on the Injury reserve program, they need to make that more concrete like the other Major League sports which have mandatory minimums of how long they are on that list for like MLB has a 10-day injury and I think NHL has a 7-day once you've been put on that list. For the NBA they just "file" a report of "injury" and then they can classify it as questionable, out indefinitely, probable etc and most likely is a fake report to then choose to play or not. Like for example and James was on the Injury report I would say about 60 games but played 71 games is just simply an exploitation of those rules that are indeed supposed to help truly injured players

@@tawithmmk4800 Idk if that’s the reason though. I think the NBA game itself isn’t as entertaining as it used to be with all this damn 3pt shooting. You watch the average NBA game and it’ll be 3mins straight of back n forth chucking 3’s, the stars are the ones making the games bearable. And even though viewership is going down that’s not stopping the NBA from signing these multi-billionaire dollar deals, so clearly these corporations know something that they’re not telling us.

@@369pendulum I blame the fans for that. Young fans don’t know any better I guess so they still buy these expensive tickets (well their parents do anyway ha) and so money still comes in. Not nearly what it could be if they put a better product out on the court…but enough to pay these entitled athletes anyway. Is what it is….unfortunately I don’t see it changing. Hopefully I’m wrong. I always kinda wondered if lebron retires id they’ll start allowing a little more defense to be played again. I’m sure never what it was in the 89s/90’s but I get that that was a little much. But they gotta allow the game to be a little more physical. If they’re gonna allow them to carry and travel to look more skilled the least they could do is force them to do it against some actual defense. I think that would bring a lot of fans back to the game. I’m not a WNBa fan personally but I’ve been watching a bit more this year..and have watched each of the first 4 finals games so far between the liberty and lynx. And man their defense is far more entertaining. They let them be physical and it’s so. Much better to watch. And they don’t just chuck up 3’s like you said. It’s refreshing. Anyway…if the nba decides to bring some physicality back What a better time to do it then after lebron retires? Fingers crossed

I think when they start they are likeable, like Zion, Ja, Simmons, Ant, it's when they're blinded by max contracts and getting paid off their "potential" that I find their character is revealed, all of the sudden Zion can't put down the fork, Ja can't put down his toy gun, Simmons has the yips and can't shoot anymore, Ant has recently I felt been more arrogant but he's still got a work ethic and passion to an extent but the disrespect to past generations is certainly unlikeable now. I still enjoy Jokic cause he's putting in the work 100%, my only downside to Jokic's work ethic is that it's literally work to him and he doesn't have a passion for the game like others which is a weird and I suppose refreshing take on playing in the NBA which has been really diving into Business and Entertainment and not professional sport.

If you have different math on this, bring it out, present it to these billion-dollar businesses and I'm sure they will pay you big bucks for your insights. Fans claim they want to see basketball but you can see that a fun losing team has no one in the seats. While boring winners play in front of sold out audiences. Really? Name one time that Roy Hibbert displayed anything close to the ability that Embiid has displayed. If you wanna argue that Embiid wouldn't be a superstar, fine. But he would be Roy Hibbert in the 90s? Stop it. All of a sudden, he would just be big with no actual game just because he plays in the 90s? How does that work?

To be accurate, both Embiid and Wembanyama speaks french but the former played in ncaa before nba while the latter played in europe between 2019 and 2023. That means Embiid is closer to the american early 2010's mentality while Wembanyama is closer to the european mentality and share more things with players like Doncic, Jokic or Antetokounmpo.

From a person whose father is developing dementia and can barely walk from playing in the NFL and Arena Football for 13 years, I wish they had guardians caps in the old league. I wish he could’ve taken days off. I would give every penny back and more to have my dad be healthy and able. It’s so easy to call someone soft when you’ve never experienced it.

If I may…. What Joel is saying is *TRUE* - Nobody can win alone. MJ “GoAT” needed help. Let’s be truthful now. Basketball fundamentally is a Team sport. You need atleast competent teammates. - Now Joel absolute took a dump in his pants in critical games and he lost. I understand that. - Even so, the point still stands. Even the GOATSs need Help. -Bird needed- Maxwell, Robert, Ainge, Johnson and McKale. -Magic needed- Worthy, Kareem, Byron, Cooper, and McAdoo -Kobe needed Shaq, Horry, Fox, Fisher and Gasol. MJ needed- Grant, Pippen, Longley, Kucoc, Harper and Rodman - Let’s be honest about that atleast. GOATs with all their Prowess still need that help.

They say the same about the NFL. But I would contend it is equally as difficult and with the spacing increasing to logo, this big tough NBAs would need to get in better shape overall. That is on them, they didn't care as much about cardio issues when playing 15-20 ft around the rim and making the game generally boring as all get out (e.g. mid-90s Knicks).

We live in an era where players get paid $50 million a year, complain about having to take private plans to travel and mark days they want off when the season starts. You had guys like Bill Russell and his teammates traveling by bus all across the country in bad shoes for pennies in comparison trying to play every game. For heavens sake back then they probably had to worry about driving in states were bricks could be thrown at them by guys in white hoods. They might he hetter sthletes today but they have less nerve than any if the "plumbers" they look down on.
