The real reasons the NBA has fallen: 1. Guaranteed Contracts 2. Adam Silver 3. No defense - no physicality 4. 3 point shooting and no play in the post 5. Position less players- everyone wants to shoot and play the point, even the big men 6. BLM / black oppression / victim, entitled mentality despite 90% of the league players being black 7. ESPN and DEI 8. Trump Derangement Syndrome 9. LePuffDaddy James still plying - please go away! Only the owners can save the NBA. Not to mention that refs obviously favor some teams over and over again. Some of them were even caught betting years ago and are still officiating games. Soft fouls. 40 thousand free throws a game. A role player is clearly fouled but refs don’t call it. But a so called superstar gets every touch in his favor. Plus, if you want to actually go to a game and sit on decent place you have to pay like 400+ dollars. And finally, their woke agenda being thrown at us everyday. Some players definitely can hit deeper threes but I think it will take away some value from the 3 point shot. They should get rid of the corner 3 and push the line back by a foot to two feet. Not to mention start calling carries, travels, and double dribbles that are fundamentally against the rules of basketball.

As someone who has played and watched my whole life I can tell you good offense beats good defense every time ... The reason for the high scoring is teams have adjusted their offensive strategy and found more efficient ways of scoring ... Teams literally hire people to study efficiency and figure out mathematically which shots should be getting taken and at what point in the shot clock ... They figured out that taking alot of 3 pointers is actually the best strategy as long as the team has decent shooters ... There are multiple reasons for ratings decline. One is cord cutting. There is no defense in NBA. Look at the All-Stars game one team scoring over 200 points. It hasn’t been the same since Michael Jordan and Chicago Bulls of the 1990s. NBA was lucky to have Kobe Bryant and LA Lakers.
@OGNervo24 күн бұрын
Nah I’d say this decline just started after the 2016 finals. KD Joined the warriors and the rest fell into place. And people say the warriors changed the game with 3 pointers but they have never led the league in threes taken as a team. Their small ball approach led to postionless basketball and more isos.

I’m a baseball fan, and it seems somewhat analogous to the all-or-nothing home run/strikeout approach. Only, in baseball, there’s somewhat of a balance. Runs scored per game remain somewhat stable. It seems 3 point/no defense in the NBA just inflates scoring.

Here's an idea; reduce the length of the regular season to 62 games each team, that's all teams playing every other team home and away, with an extra game against each team in their division. Then, allow defense to be played, with hand-checking and in your face one-on-one, players cannot just get unrestricted freedom of movement. This would allow defensive specialists to shut down three point shooters, and deny easy looks under or near the basket. Currently, teams seem to have a tacit understanding that allows recognised stars to get easy looks, usually on the third or fourth pass in any offensive phase; prevent that by having a fixed hardline qualification for playoffs, with no play-in tournament. With fewer games and you're in or out, watch the play intensify as players are incentivised to compete. Oh, and stop paying players ridiculous sums of money.

90% of the players don’t even wanna play a back to back even in the early 00’s everyone would play unless you literally was too hurt to play

-Get rid of the Cup/In Season tournament gimmicks -Find a way to crack down on terrible end of game sequences that are just timeout, foul, free throw over and over -Do something about load management -Shame floppers even more -Stop calling fouls for literally nothing. Let them play. Free throws ruin the pace of the game and are a terrible product to watch

The NFL is threatening to make the goal posts closer together. Replace the NBA hoops with those from the state fair. Scoring will go down.

Yes widen the court and push back the 3 point arc by 1 foot (6” a year for 2 years). Then see if the 3 point % efficiency drops where a 2 point shot has equal value during the course of a game. If the NBA needs a chuck fest fix, institute a 4 point line from mid court but only during the last 2 minutes of each half and overtime.

It’s not just attempting 40 threes a game, the Celtics somehow missed 42 threes in a game against the Grizzlies last week

Getting rid of the corner 3 and bringing back hand checking would solve this problem overnight.

No heart, No toughness, No defense, Star players making million sitting out games. They are all friends theres no hate or rivalries anymore. Just chucking up threes. They also have blackouts and dont make it convenient to watch.

The solution is simplicity itself but the commissioner has no balls to implement it
