Here's (most of) an NBC Network special - Rona Barrett Looks at Today's SuperRich (stylized as $uperRich), as hosted by the legendary gossip columnist/TV personality and notably featuring Donald Trump. (All commercial breaks were cut from this recording)
Includes:
Recording coming in just as a segment with Harry B. Helmsley commences; he speaks of his vast real estate holdings, including the Empire State Building
Next segment, Rona interviews fashion designer Diane von Fürstenberg (Furstenberg) about her life and career and how she rose to prominence
On to Chicago where she interviews the publisher of Ebony and Jet magazines, John H. Johnson, who relates how he built his empire and under the circumstances he grew up in; and W. Clement Stone, founder and owner of the Combined Insurance Company of America, who speaks of how he rose to the top of his position
The Steve Miller Band's "Take the Money and Run" introduces the next interview, with Texas-based real estate developer F. Trammell Crow, who relates how he accumulated some of the largest real estate holdings in the country
Recording cuts to next part of show, with Rona explaining the motivation for this look, which leads up to the big moment - an interview with a fresh-faced scion by the name of Donald J. Trump, then beginning his long career; cutting back and forth between him, Helmsley, Stone and Crow
Back to Diane and how she began her career, followed by more with John, Clement and Trammell, before going back to "the" Donald, who's asked about comparisons to his father; Diane, about her mother; and Clement and John speaking about their growing up
Recording cuts to next part, with Rona and Harry at his penthouse over which the bumper title is shown (backing music: "Money" by The Flying Lizards), then she introduces the subject of the American dream vs. reality, and relations on how Stone, Johnson, Crow, Helmsley, Trump and von Fürstenberg attained it and what makes them go on
Recording then cuts to Rona's next subject, the depiction of the super-rich on TV shows vs. the realities of their lives outside their respective ventures; Donald, Trammell, John, Clement, Diane and Harry all speak of how their lives are nothing like those TV depictions, what they have to put up with in their daily lives, family life, and looks into the future for their offspring (in the first of Helmsley's segments, a picture of him with wife Leona Helmsley is shown for a few seconds)
Recording cuts next to ending sum-up by Rona about her six subjects, their differences and similarities, before ending program
Ending credits (with audio for the Eagles' "The Long Run" degraded); and voiceover promo for The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson, SCTV Network 90, Barbara Mandrell and The Mandrell Sisters, B.J. and the Bear, and Games People Play by Casey Kasem)
Start of promo for Hill Street Blues, then recording ends
This aired on local Chicago TV on Friday, July 24th 1981 within the 9:00pm to 10:00pm timeframe.
This is from a videotape donated to the Museum of Classic Chicago Television as part of the Dr. William Matviuw collection.
About The Museum of Classic Chicago Television:

If you have any old 1970s videotapes recorded off of TV please email: tapes@fuzzy.tv Even though (mostly) short clips are displayed here, we preserve the entire broadcasts in our archives - the complete programs with breaks (or however much is present on the tape), for historical preservation. For information on how to help in our mission, to donate or lend tapes to be converted to digital, please e-mail tapes@fuzzy.tv Thank you for your help!

Wow! If only Rona had a crystal ball in that interview...Helmsley's wife would become "The Queen of Mean" and Donald Trump would be Prez. Unbelievable. I wonder if Rona looks back at her old material and ponders these questions...

@@lemurianchick - I know what you mean. Leona ultimately eclipsed Harry in outward prominence, she was everywhere at one point in advertising and elsewhere. He had been particularly modest in terms of the properties he owned and ran, but she was uber-extravagant (as well as her "Queen of Mean" reputation and "Only the little people pay taxes" remark). His health had declined sharply by the time they were indicted on tax evasion and she served time in the slammer. No, he died of pneumonia in 1997. He did leave everything to Leona, though. I have to wonder if Trump branding his name on his various properties was modeled after Helmsley (the Helmsley hotels across the country), the Hilton chain (named after Conrad Hilton), Hyatt Hotels (namesake: Hyatt von Dehn), and Marriott Hotels (J. Willard Marriott). He was by no means a pioneer in that - but he did take it to a new level, for sure. The reason for my saying what I did in one of the earlier comments: His story we all know about. The others (Helmsley, von Furstenberg, Johnson, Crow, Stone) - not so much.

I love seeing this copy-paste comment every time I see it. It's funny how they never mention IN WHAT WAY the Democrats have become radical. Meanwhile, I can list ten ways the GOP has become radical in my lifetime. - Taking away medical decisions from people. - No respect for elections - Fawing over Donald Trump - Supporting every anti-democratic strongman (Orban, Bolsonaro, etc) - Not supporting Ukraine - Tax cut for the rich while we have a national debt. - Book Bans - Gun Fetishism - Not caring about the planet we live on. - Giving any voice in foreign or domestic policy to people who believe the Book of Revelation is going to happen "any day now" I have issues with the Democrats, but in a storm, I'd rather be holding an umbrella with a few holes than a lightning rod.
