I know he’s going to accomplish things to change the laws. Sometimes that’s the only thing you can do to cope with the pain- do something about what happened. And we all need to pay attention and do our parts- so this doesn’t happen to our loved ones in the future. If we just sit by and it does- it will be too late then to open our eyes for our loved ones or ourselves. Time is now for things to change.

@@HLJRMAI1 people are stupid and allow their feelings to dictate their brains. You're absolutely correct. There are rules for Victim Impact Statements. I know because I have heard them dozens of time and unfortunately, have drafted one after my family member was murdered in 2018. There is no need to address the defense attorneys, and yet this judge allowed it thus snowballing into what it became. The families are upset because they don't get what they feel is justice which is actually vengeance not justice.

I think they have chosen not to use his name now. I don’t think I have heard any of them use his given name since the trial. I think that is as it should be. The New Zealand prime minister made that decision after they had that awful mass shooting. She decided that she wouldn’t give him the fame he wanted so badly and refused to name him at all. It is probably the best thing to do to people who want fame, deny it to them from the outset, stop naming them.

Please. Grow up. Defense lawyers have a legal obligation to argue the facts in the best light for their client. If they don’t they can be disbarred. Getting angry at a lawyer for making an argument shows deep ignorance of the adversarial process. If the Prosecution had made better arguments maybe they would have convinced all the jurors to impose death. They failed. Thats the law. The victim impact statement is to discuss the impact of THE CRIME. The murderer should be the sole focus. The Judge should have prevented any attack on counsel. End of story.

@@MoreCoffeePlease. Its fair to make an argument that the care this kid got was inadequate even if the facts support your argument that he got adequate care. Fair arguments can be incorrect. Unfair is if the defense brought false evidence of care to the jury’s attention. The fact that the family disagrees with every single thing the defense said does not make a single word of it unfair or improper or deserving of calling them disgusting and subhuman. Some of the family members of the victims did not want the death penalty imposed. Are they too evil? Calling anyone who is like minded evil makes a person look unhinged vindictive and lacking in intelligence. I have compassion for the families. I may want the death penalty imposed if it was my family member. But I’ll be damned if I would argue that defense attorneys compelled by law to defend a person are more immoral than the shooter.

This man..This man is incredible..I've watched him ,his face, every day in court. Alex is blessed to have such a Dad....YOU CAN SEE HIS PAIN on his face every day, not just for his family, but for everyone.Empathy is a super power.. ..Weston is with you Parkland♡♡ Cruz got plenty of "care" .. it clearly didn't work.. Alone at 19 in the world.. hmmm. I cant get a damn MRI APPROVED AFTER 23 years as ICU RN..can't walk, work, pay my mortage...can't afford therapy for me- or my girls- - Cruz gets fed, housed, meds, no bills.. I mean... I do believe he's ill..I also believe HE PLANNED THIS.. ILL, but NOT DUMB.. its a partial explanation of his life- BUT NOT AN EXCUSE for his decisions.Seems Linda tried, and she COULD afford to..what would happen if she couldn't.. Something HAS TO CHANGE. .. MALES 18-23,THAT AGE, THAT GUN.. WHAT ??!;(

My heart goes out to all the families. It is beyond sad. My boyfriend lost his son and it’s an unimaginable pain I saw and still see to this day. I’m shock at how much therapy and mental health services he’s had. He had more then enough help. It’s on him wether he used it. He’s gotten 100x more help then I did from all the times I went to rehab. Mind blowing. And that was $90,000 to go. Thankfully I had insurance each time. In the beginning I had a small, very small, amount of empathy towards him. That vanished completely. I think he did deserve the death penalty.
