Back in 60’s , friends and me would have small gatherings on huge asphalt streets that had slipped part way down the hill.there were dozens of them.

Yup.... I grew up in the beach area...down from the "hill"....that area has always been moving.

Methinks one or more links in the communication chain might have been compromised in the interpretation. Did "the geologist(s) really say those things? Do the officials really believe that throwing tens of millions at the issue will resolve it? Is there any reason to doubt that the money will not help? This confusion may go back as far as the approval process for the original subdivisions, but is it questionable whether or not the development(s) should have been approved in the first place? Follow the money? Do the legal eagles believe that responsibility attaches because of their involvement? Is the practice of "balanced cut and fill" and building on structural fills still considered wise given the number of apparent localized failures where such work has been done? Rolling Hills Estates? May I be excused? I feel a fit coming on . . . An old member of a large city's Subdivision Advisory Committee.

It is a slippery slope when fighting mother nature and gravity. I doubt that in a decade there will be many homes in PV.

Should got rid of all that Bureaucratic Red Tape in 2016, it might of been handled before the Big rains we had last year and this year. But O well guess you guys are going to have to buy all those houses, move everyone out of there and label it a No GO ZONE 😂

I would not be surprised if their insurance drops them or does not cover anything with the way California is nowadays
@alfredgeorge3178 ай бұрын
There's nothing wrong with California. Use your common sense...look at our jagged coastline ...how do you think it became that way? These landslides have been happening for thousands of years ...up and down the coast. Those who purchased homes in the RPV, PVE, PV, RHE, RH....(The hill)....accepted the known risks. I grew up in the Southern California beach areas....these landslides were happening as far back as then.

@@alfredgeorge317 do you live in California now? Have you seen how many insurance companies are canceling policies and leaving the state?? 🤔
@alfredgeorge3178 ай бұрын
@@PACbelltech1 Yes I still live in California (4th generation)....honestly, I'd be surprised if many of those people had homeowners insurance that covered the land movement in that area...it's notorious for this problem. Once upon a time...one could not find a bank to finance a house in that area. It's nothing new. (Chances are...most of them probably inherited those houses from their parents) Insurance companies are not fleeing California.... you're thinking Florida.

@@PACbelltech1 I should add...it's such a beautiful area...that even donald trump bought into that area...it's where his "Trump National Golf Course Los Angeles" is located....
