I watch this over and over again because Judge Aquilina is so dead-on with every word it is entrancing. I particularly appreciate how she makes him squirm with "because you are guilty, aren't you?" and he can't even say the words because he is still thinking in his deluded brain that he's going to somehow climb back from this and convince people all over again that it was all a misunderstanding, he's a great guy, pillar of the community, etc. Even his statement with his cowardly turn of phrase, sorry for "what has occurred" instead of "what I did", is blatant and laughable evidence that he has not repented in the slightest. Aquilina's commitment to allowing every survivor an opportunity to face down their abuser was the best, most perfect decision I have ever seen come out of the US justice system.

They got justice concerning Nassar's chapter. Justice doesn't mean reparation, and a lot of victims don't feel any relief after it comes. Especially with murder victims families, and it's so hard because they firmly believe and pray that once justice comes, some of that horrible pain, grief and despair will lift and go away, but it doesn't work like that. And I've watched so many fall apart after, satisfied with getting justice, maybe even happy on some level, but just so devastated that justice didn't take away the unbearable part, didn't even lighten it a little. Healing takes time. It effing sucks, I have been there, but you are powerless to that process, and so you sit in it and wait for time, as slow as it goes. But as long as you don't give up in your head, it will come. Maybe months, maybe a year, maybe many years, we're all too unique to know, but it. will. come.

Sapphire Opinion wow never thought I’d see a comment like this. They are not to blame. Unless you have gone through something exactly like this... don’t comment insensitive things. You don’t know how manipulation truly affects children or teenagers. Who is to blame Nassar and anyone who knew or was suspicious of what he was doing and did nothing. Parents who never did anything despite their child’s pleas. (I understand children who forgive their parents and I understand those who don’t want to) but parents should always believe their children regarding this stuff. You have no idea what it’s like to have this done to you so don’t assume it’s easy to come out.

Shannon Smith actually helped pushed for the guilty plea deal to make it so these girls could speak their truths and make impact statements! It sucks but she gave those girls a voice, at least.

@@TJ-it1bm I am a 47 years woman who was meant to be childless by nature. I hope you believe me when I say that I have a maternity instinct and feel that goes beyond the ones some mothers have. People around me knkw that when it comes to children I can be fiercely involved with all my well. Unfortunately some women lack this, worse yet some of them are mothers. I see this every day and it makes me so mad. You don't need to be a mother to must have it. This defender or attorney apparently put her career and fame above any thing. If you are a decent human you make choices. She made a biased one. I have no respect for her.

I am ashamed as a human being that it took so long for the behaviour of this Dr. To come to the light of day and finally some justice. There has been a cover up that has obviously gone on for years that allowed this to happen to these young girls. Anyone who took part in this cover up should also be judged by their peers and court and should not be allowed amongst young, innocent, and at risk young people again. The public should be able to know their names and justice needs to come to pass to all those who had a part in this no matter how small. We need to hang our heads in shame that this monster was allowed near young people who’s lives will forever be affected by this man they innocently trusted.

@Dr Seymour Ladybits Does showing the slightest bit of emotion when sentencing a child molester make you an unfit judge? I think we better fire every single human being who's a judge, then.

As for people saying “How & Why” could this of happened........ when you instill trust with someone, especially a Dr as well known as Nassar, plus the age of the children, they didn’t know!! Statistically, most sexual abuse is from someone the victim knows, trust(family, Friend, teacher, Dr etc) the age plays a major part here & the fact that when the survivors DID speak up and tell, they were told it was “medical treatment” & told to keep quite about it!! NOW is the time for everyone to listen when a child, Adult etc comes forward about sexual abuse!! WE have to LISTEN & be proactive!! Please stop blaming the parents and the survivors.......... INMATE NASSAR did the crime, not let him do the time!! As for the survivors #WeHearYou & now you can begin to heal!!

"Now they are seeking the media attention and financial reward." 10:38 Ooooh. As she has made it very clear that she has no dog in this fight and refuses to appease the media unless a victim accompanies her, as "this is not about me," the burning stare and the dismissive tossing of his "apology" is the calmest reaction I would've had!

This is absolutely true. I was abused at age 4-5 and then again by boyfriend from age 17-19. This is real! We have to speak up cause if not it will ruin you inside as a person and eat you up and make you feel like nothing. I love you all that have been a victim of sexual and physical abuse ❤️ eye for an eye

Woah we have similar stories. I was assaulted aged 5 by an older child, and assaulted again (very badly) aged 18 by a man who I thought was my friend. Have you spoken up yet? I am trying to gather the courage to report the assault from when I was 18. It was ten years ago and I worry that no one will believe me.

People say the judge was biased. Have seen this video? Have you listened to the resources she bowed her head to read out loud? Judge Aquilina’s words were harsh to address the worst case in sports history. They were not improper. Therefore, she was not biased. If you claim she was that way for the victims, all I can say is that you are despicable and a Nassar enabler. If your daughter was a victim of that demon, what would you do? Sit on your hands? Or take action? If you don’t do anything about it, you are also an enabler. And you don’t deserve to be a parent. Good day. I said good day Nassar enablers.

Keep in mind he wrote this earlier in the trail and she is reading this after his "apology". He enjoyed what he did, he liked it. He is mad that he got caught and that was perfectly clear.

Thanks to all young ladies who stood up and testified in this case. You didnt deserve this, but this innocent looking devil took advantage of you and your trust in him, and it took courage from you to stop him so he couldnt hurt anyone else. Justice isnt served here as he has countless numbers of victims and has ruined a lot of lives, but at least he will be in jail in the rest of his life and when we know how other prisoners feel about child molesters and rapists I hope that he will experience some of the things he have made others go through.

The threatening aura behind, "Would you like to withdraw your plea?" She completely exposed both his character (and the true intentions of that letter) for all to see by putting him in that spot. Likely more than anyone ever has. She exposed this man as a spineless, lying coward with a simple question that (arguably) had nothing to do with any of his crimes. Gave him the opportunity to 'put your money where your mouth is' and of course he immediately caved like rhe snivelling waste he is. Excellent move.

Nassar definitely deserves to be assaulted in prison. After everything he’s done? You gotta be kidding me if you think he deserves to be safe from assault, because he does not. He deserves to suffer for his eternal life through all means possible. Anyone who doesn’t believe that Nassar deserves to be assaulted in prison belongs in prison right with him!
