The Feglers of the World are ALREADY manufacturing their contrived topic for late August, when Brissett is announced as starter Week 1: "Is Drake Maye falling behind where he should be in his development?" Watch for this.

He had an opportunity to embrace the pick and keep an open mind and instead chose his ‘take.’ One hour of Rookie camp and his opinion is confirmed? Stop it. At this point if Maye is good, people are gonna be giving Curran side eye any time he tries to embrace him… they call that ‘late to the bandwagon.’

This is a good discussion. Ideally, I would like to see Brissett start most of the season. But almost every great QB in the league, came in with things they had to work on. Allen was inaccurate, Mahomes had footwork and mechanical issues, Lamar Jackson, they had a ton of question marks. So I’m not that concerned about Maye. He’s got the talent, excellent arm, he’s got the athleticism you need in a modern day QB, he’s smart (was an academic all American at NC), he’s tough, faced adversity last year. He’s got everything you want in a franchise QB. I think if you look at draft guides, 50% had him as the 2nd best QB in the draft. The guy is a tremendous talent. Can he wind up a bust ? Sure, but you HAVE to take that chance in the draft when it was your biggest need.

Speaking candidly, I am completely and utterly: flabbergasted, bamboozled, discombobulated, confuzzled, colored in disarray and have all the salt taken out of my saltine when I audibly discern folks, reiterate the sports media’s spoon fed propaganda that echos the bars, offices, and handicap bathroom stalls, that Drake Maye is a giant. I mean, Considering Tom Brady is 6’4” and 225 lbs, and that Maye is 6’4” and 230 pounds, wouldn’t that make Tom a giant too?!?!?!

Tom, the patriots picked May. Look forward, not backward. Let's focus to develop this kid so he can be successfull. If he is not great at least it won't be because of lack of trying or effort. The gap between college and nfl is huge. Game is fasted and with bigger guys. Sit the kid so he can see how hard it is and let him learn

When he asked Drake if he understood why people were saying he had bad footwork. What was the point of asking him that? All that matters is that Drake is working on new footwork that AVP wants him to have. To me it felt like Tom just wanted to stir the pot and put doubt in his head. I have lost a ton of respect for him. People point out the Mayo said Drake has a lot to work on as an indictment that he sucks. He is working on completely new footwork, basically the foundation of a QB. It's a lot, trying to learn new plays, new verbiage, snaps under center and footwork that goes with that, new footwork out of shotgun. Aside from moving to a new large city he has tons of football things to study and learn. It's a lot of stuff.

Drake Maye should sit and learn for at least the first 3/4s of the season. I don't care what the Patriots record is. I just hope that Brissett doesn't get hurt in the early part of this season. I don't want to see Brissett get hurt, but it may be wise to consider bringing in another veteran if he does. Putting Maye or Milton in may not be the best for either rookie if Brissett is on the IR before week 10.

The only reason Maye should sit for any significant period of time is if the O-Line looks like trash or if you believe the team has to tank for a top-5 pick again next year and Brissett is just holding it down on a crappy team. I don’t believe either of those scenarios are likely.

Hey Tom Drake is our QB now we get you wanted them to trade down we get you wanted McCarthy… Drake maye is the QB you cover now. So maybe instead of trying to play this devil advocate role like your felgar and mass with bs hot takes cus you just want to get clicks and views when you literally keep knit picking at little things said in interviews or a basic rookie mini camp and spew negativity to a fan base who needs positivity right now. Or you can go back to being the respectable journalist I enjoyed listening to for the last 5 years and cover the facts cover the team and give us some sense of optimism like Phil does. You can keep going this way and lose viewers or accept the QB we have now and cover the team trying to figure things out with optimism like Kyle’s like Perry like Garf and Lazar who’ve had much better programs than you since the draft process started it’s much more enjoyable to have positive media than negative especially when games aren’t even being played. If I wanted crappy takes I’d just watch espn who talk about our team with 0 idea of what we’re even doing or any plans for the team. When you guys actually cover the team. Stop bringing up what’s not here or what you wanted talk about what we have and what we can look forward to if things go as planned from our coaching staff. If they don’t we can discuss it during the season.
