nct dream meets backstreet boys..... yeah basically. this is a cover of a song from 1996.

No, they met HOT, not Backstreet Boys. As a Korean, if someone doesn’t know this song, that’s not a Korean. HOT and Backstreet Boys don’t have anything in common in music or dancing. HOT is Korean legends.

I mean it's their best charting song in korean music platforms so far, they be charting like a gg. Third bg in history to hit number 1 on melon top 100 sooo.... clearly the korean general public is listening and it's working in their favor.
@tosinolorunsola711 Жыл бұрын
oh they eatin it up like crazy. nostalgia and cute, youthful energy (which fits them like a glove) combined have put them in such a good spot. and even moreso since the public seems to love them a lot already.
@sadz42 Жыл бұрын
i think the combination of a classic song but also the way dream made it their own (+ the fact that dream was the one to do the cover and dream gets a lot of love for a bg when it comes to digital charts) made this an instant hit and I'm so happy and proud of them

Without being a teenager in Korea in the 90s I think it's hard to understand how huge the impact H.O.T. had at the time, it set the patterns for the whole industry to follow. And the public in Korea all know this song.... What especially works is that the Dreamies embraced the goofy bright energy (just like they truly know how to do) without any irony. They go for it (like the over-dramatic dorks that they truly are ;) and it is just supposed to be fun!
@juniblessing3875 Жыл бұрын
People are also in general very crazy for 7dream in korea, they have been missing them a lot while they weren't promoting. Some weeks before this album dropped they were chosen as ambassadors for korea's biggest national bank, so their face and snippets of this song were everywhere on these banks lol, so I bet that had something to do too with general public being even more curious about them and checking their songs out and loving it. I can't imagine how their real full album cb will be like next year 😆 insanity.
@TurKishBacon Жыл бұрын
The fact that none of them were even a thought when this song was a MONSTER hit. H.O.T and this song kinda started it all for kpop and SM. Can't wait for y'all to watch the original (it's A LOT).
@christinavilla6792 Жыл бұрын
More people should listen to this song in traffic. Less road rage. This song is really just perfect. They did a great job of keeping the concept of the original video but making it their own. This also fit perfectly with their last few releases, all throwbacks to the 90's and extremely colorful.
@nataliah3243 Жыл бұрын
It definitely kept the 90s vibe, I'm gonna die watching your throwback reaction 🤣

The whole reason why your channel exists is bc of this song.....this is the song that started kpop as the world knows it today. It started the trainee system at SM, it established the switch from co-ed groups to all boy or all girl groups, it's the song that fostered the focus on fandom (HOT fandom name is White Angels) and it's intensity-there's a cute scene in Reply 1997 about the battle between the HOT fandom and the Sechskies fandom. Seotaiji did pre-date them but until the mid-later 90s the "kpop" industry was just the wild west of people just trying to figure it out. SM actively sought out people who could speak english to try and market overseas. HOT (along with Boa) started the focus of kpop as an actual exportable commodity for the korean economy. This is THE song

not getting pulled over with this type of song playing😭😭😭 i love it though. Dream does happy and cute really well, and i have a soft spot for both cutesy kpop and Dream. this is the title track of an EP they just dropped. i don't think it'd be y'alls vibe cuz they keep this bright and happy sound throughout. but the song Graduation (it's a ballad) is quite deep cuz it talks about their journey and getting closure from what happened. i'd recommend checking it out.
@rebeckaroy6790 Жыл бұрын
I think the album is a really great mixture of styles though. The title track doesn't really reflect the mood of all the songs. You're right, it doesn't get super intense but it does get thoughtful and their vocals are even better than they have been in previous albums (Moon especially impressed me a LOT). I think it's a really impressive collection of songs.
@tosinolorunsola711 Жыл бұрын
@@rebeckaroy6790 I suppose it does have different styles, yes. And I agree about Moon. It’s a standout and testament to how much they’ve improved as singers for sure. It’s been hard to choose a favorite song so far, but this song makes me reconsider.

Are the English subtitles correct? 'I'm happy because I woke today and I'm going to break up with you!' How is that 'happy' for the person being dumped? It seems rude to be so excited while planning to break someone's heart. My clueless American self is very confused.
@Claire-fw7ob Жыл бұрын
I don’t really think it’s so much about the other person, and in the plot I’m pretty sure they end up seeing the person and deciding to not break up with them anymore because they realize that they love them.
