Have watched this for about 20 times now I think. When I was younger I wanted to be a comic book artist and trained for some years until I got into computer science. I always thought comic book artists would draw the whole image without any pre-drawing/construction. Because of that my improvements were very slow. One of the first videos which showed me that most comic book artist create their art gradually like a potter who is pottering a vase, was this video here. I got instantly back into drawing after over 15 years of abstinence. Thank you.

I just found out about the passing of our dear #NealAdams . I am really very sad. His art accompanied me since I was a child, despite the thousands of kilometers that separated us, his talent came to me in the comicbooks that fed our creative impulses. Thank you for so much, master, Rest in peace. My condonlences for the family

Neal Adams gave me more joy growing up in the 70's than I can possibly express! Hell my mother knows who Neal Adams is & can usually identify his work! Thank you !

Amazing! I didn't think Neal would draw like this, for no reason in particular. He seems to "feel out" the figure rather than start with a mechanical "skeleton". Partially erasing the initial drawing seems to have been enough of a framework to carry the process forward. I was also surprised to see how painstaking he was in some areas, like the mouth. This was a lovely example of how illustration happens. Thanks for posting.

Back in the 70s, Batman became exactly the comic book it was intended to be. I was never really into Batman but then there was a Neal Adams cover leering at me. Impossible to pass up. I still have them all and treasure among the finest ever. It seemed to anticipate today's graphic novels.

I go to the Joe Kubert School and was fortunate enough to have Neal Adams come in and speak to us. I like Neal's way of thinking because it's like mine. Use your common sense, everyone has it. (Or so we like to think) :)

There's something to be learned here. Mr. Adams spend so much time on the facial expression right from the get-go... and he drew some of the best Batman facial expressions... maybe if the face hadn't turned out good it would have been time to start over and try again
