The convo at ~40 about neutral assessment is I think soo crucial. Yoga unlocked this for me neutralizing assessment for me, and that kind of 'hang breathing' and rising vertebrae by vertebrae, with feet grounded etc. and jaw unlocked (mouth breathing) and eyes closed shows me at least that that's where my body wants to be when aligned (Standing at least, which is what I want to prioritize). Also idk if you guys are talking about tongue at all in this video but it seems tongue stabilizing (mewing if you will) is also crucial and I dont know if I've come across a Jon video about it yet. Helps further with stabilization and demonstrates if there's not enough pallet room for the tongue.

Thank you so very much because I have been wanting to ride horses again and I can't. I tried dismounting a few weeks back after not being on a horse in years. My husband laughed at me because I was dismounting in a very snake like weird way. If you knew me... You would absolutely know that I was damaged by the way I used to move to the way I was after my accident. I could jump from standstill to chest height within inches from my body. I would grab any horse from the fields and hop on. Even horses that were 17 hands high. I was the only person I ever knew in my life that could jump on a horse that high without a saddle. It all went away right after my accident and now I understand better. This is absolutely fascinating.

Hey Neal, this video saved me from undergoing an orthodontic treatment that could have caused permanent cranial torsion. After consulting with several orthodontists, I finally found one who makes centric relation splints and understands the importance of the underlying structures, not just the teeth. While the splint improved my neck range of motion (and by extension, my ribcage and pelvis), it didn't completely resolve my cranial twisting issues. I've since learned of the importance of proper tongue posture and also discovered that I have a narrow and asymmetrical palate which is preventing me from fully placing my tongue on it-specifically, the right side is narrower and steeper, causing the left side of my tongue to engage more. Could you make a video explaining how narrow and asymmetrical palates relate to neck and cranial compensatory patterns, and how to address this issue?

I’m going to watch a lot more of this video later so apologies if this was already answered in the video, but do you(or anyone you know of) have any experience with working with an adult as they go through gradual ‘palatal expansion’ treatment? I’m definitely not going with any sort of rapid palatal expander as this would virtually be guaranteed to worsen my right torsion, but I absolutely need to move my teeth and gradually expand my palate to have a sustainable, stable, neutral posture from my head to my toes. I had my underbite camouflaged as a kid in a very unsustainable way and now I have quite an underdeveloped maxilla. Luckily, my camouflaged underbite and openbite aren’t too severe so I think I should be able to avoid surgery altogether. I’m at a tossup between the ALF appliance and the DNA appliance. I feel that the ALF would be a safer bet, but would likely take a lot longer. Have you heard of right torsions being treated with a DNA appliance? Thank you for everything 🙏

You are saying that humans don't have a bigger right diaphragm and a left hemisphere of the brain that controls the right side of the body? Because that is what the pattern is. If there is a connection, would be great to see a video on this, and in particular, if there is anything that can be done about it. Cheers!
@NealHallinan8 ай бұрын
Yes, vision can be involved. The muscles of the eyes greatly influence the cranial bones, because they are very strong. But also, when someone can't perceive visual space appropriately, the body will "posture itself' around what it "sees". If only one eye is working, there will be some postural distortion. I've made some videos about vision and posture.
@scottk15258 ай бұрын
@@NealHallinan Thanks! I'll check out your other videos on vision. That said, I was more asking if posture/structure can compromise vision, as opposed to the other way around (ie: could the vision in my left eye be going downhill due to asymmetries in my head and neck?) Cheers.

@@scottk1525I have the same problem in my left eye. The blind spot got bigger by the year. Are those people just screwed for lack of a better term since they had postural imbalances before having Invisalign done?
@NealHallinan8 ай бұрын
It really depends on the person. But the reality is, if someone develops pain in their knee or hip after orthodontic treatment, they usually won't suspect the orthodontic treatment. They will get PT for their hurting body part. So the sample size is pretty small....I have plenty of people who come see me for bodily pain, and to say that they are shocked to realize their jaw/teeth are locking them up is an understatement. But they can't deny what they are seeing: they lack joint range of motion is their hips and shoulders, but when I manipulate their bite, they have the range of motion.

@davsss640623 сағат бұрын
@@mebibibi the idea is to get the body neutral via splints. A good splint can change the bite and it's relation to the body and Youbcan finally become neutral. It takes time of course and need someone who knows what they're doing . Then you can work on the teeth if needs be. There is a chance that body will twist again, whilst you're working on the teeth , as the changing the teeth will change the bite. But the provider can keep you on a splint whilst doing ortho, for example Alf. To mitigate this. He can at least keep the required bite in mind and after teeth work is done he can work towards restoring the bite towards the optimal one. If it's a surgery we're doing, then it's a different story there but again the starting point of the bite is super important before you work on the teeth. Another way is to go ahead and work on teeth, but a crippled body will struggle to handle it in many cases. All this is just my opinion of course. I am not a specialist

Does this apply for Invisalign as well?
@hk-yc4je8 ай бұрын
I have horrible TMJ problems that began during my Invisilign treatment 7 years ago. Top teeth were mostly straight, but the bottoms were very crooked. Used my dentist who was top rated by invisalign. I started feeling like my jaw & teeth were connecting & sliding funny when I'd chew. Then it turned into horrible clenched jaw & grinding 24/7, even while awake. It kept getting worse during treatment. My dentist kept saying it was fine, stick with the process. My teeth looked better. I had zero grinding or TMJ stuff beforehand. I eventually had to go through several specialists. I have joint erosion & am trying to avoid surgery. I wear very expensive heavy-duty splints day & night, not even like regular splints. It's caused major gum erosion from so much force on the tooth roots. I know tons of ppl w/ great results, but I've decided that no one should use a dentist for it at all. Not even one that's highly rated by the company. Do it with an orthodontist. They're trained to take that stuff way more seriously. They know other things to look at & adjust. Plus I know a few ppl that their orthos were able to suggest more things to the invisalign company to adjust before making the aligners. Their orthos were able to get changes for overall better tooth appearance/visual balance than just having straight teeth.

@@hk-yc4je dude I developed grinding and clenching as well I guess from the aligners tightening up the cranial system. I'm using a top rated ortho for Invisalign. The clenching has gotten a little better as my bite is getting a little more balanced but still dealing with a tight neck due to the aligners. What made your grinding improve?
@hk-yc4je8 ай бұрын
@saadimadina1337 After finishing the invisalign, I ended up having to find new dentists that specialized in TMJ. Then I got sent to TMJ-only specialists & bounced to Drs with more & more experience until I got my current guy. We did a 2 1/2 yr multiple step process wearing jaw orthotics that finally stopped the grinding. A year ago, i was able to switch to maintenance splinting. I still have issues of my jaw wanting to clamp shut (can't open to talk, brush teeth, drink anything). Wearing splints will be permanent, but overall I feel much better. My neck & jaw don't hurt anymore.

Hey Neil, going to look into on my own, but maybe you have an answer at the ready. If I'm missing a molar, is an implant or dental bridge a good solution? Is implant best or is it a problem because of this fixed spot we are creating in the mouth?

So I noticed when Frank was listing his issues, he mentioned his body twitching. I’m in the process of doing myofunctional therapy and expanding my palate in order to release a tongue tie that my PRI therapist thinks is root cause of constant, debilitating low neck pain (also neck and mid neck pain constantly…but the low back keeps me from doing much). Anyway, I’m just focusing on breathing to try and calm my nervous system down until I get tie released and we can really start PRI again. But I’m noticing as I let go of tension slowly in areas of my back and abs, my body will twitch in the exhale and I will not be abide to breath out steadily. Like my body is terrified to fully relax. Is this what you experienced? Is it indicative of further issues elsewhere?
@ndrasmithАй бұрын
If the twitching doesn’t improve, I would suggest looking into tethered cord syndrome/tight filum syndrome
@BrendanFrancisMusicАй бұрын
@ thanks for the advice! Have you had experience with this? How might the twitching indicative of tethered cord syndrome?
@ndrasmithАй бұрын
I had a tongue tie release in 2015 and tethered cord surgery in 2017. With tethered cord, there is tension in the spinal cord. I would experience muscle twitching at rest, and sometimes something that felt like chills without the sensation of cold due to the tether. It improved over time after my surgery and happened far less often. I haven’t had any twitching since starting atlas orthogonal therapy a couple of years ago. Just found this video because I am getting neurological dentistry and dry needling for TMJ. I also have Ehlers Danlos Syndrome/hypermobility.

Hi Neal. I got my two molars removed 2 years ago and started having braces. But a year ago I started having all the wired symptoms. But before all the wired symptoms I got a y strap and SI joint adjusted by a chiro(which I didn’t ask for it I didn’t have any issues) anyway. I want to ask if it cause by the braces and molars removed. It normally takes that long(a year) for the body to feel wired(twisted pelvic and sympathetic type CS mainly) ? Or likely it was from the chiro you think? Sorry it’s long.

I now have started to get an extremely tight right side jaw and SEM. Is there anything I can do or practice?
