Not yet but we did have to run from our air bnb to the trains a few times before we figured out google walking instructions are clearly for the flash, and not mortals. By the third train we had it figured out to give it 1.5 times what it said. so. half hour walk we gave 2 hours. From then on were early, but lordy if you can walk from St. Lazare to Gare de nord in 24 minutes you are my hero.
@itsjustmyopinionbut16715 жыл бұрын
Daneger and Stacey haha thanks! No, it’s not easy, we might be crazy for it lol and we’re definitely almost always somehow, some way underprepared or late 😆🤦♀️ Glad you made it!! 🙏🙌🏼
@DanegerAndStacey5 жыл бұрын
@@katajha831 Hahaha you sound far too experienced at being either late or early 🤣 We were always 'late travellers' in the past, but the over the last few years we're now probably more early starters... of course having lounge access makes that a lot less stressy.

I had to run at the new Istanbul airport 2 days ago, supposedly had 1 1/2 hour layover but when I arrived the signs said the flight was already boarding. From gate to gate its a 20 to 25 minute walk time, because they route you though the mall part of the airport. There were no moving sidewalks, or baggage carts and a 2 story escalator was out of order, so I arrived at my gate sweaty and out a breath for my 12 hour flight back to the USA.
@DanegerAndStacey5 жыл бұрын
We know how big that airport is as well, you had a real mission running through that shopping mall strip they have as well! Glad you made it, but thats not ideal for a 12 hour flight!

Belgium is 1 of our favorite countries! We will be back there in 2 weeks. Bruges is our favorite place to use as a home base there :) We will be in our first airport lounge next week too. Yea travel rarely goes as planned, we've only missed 1 connection so far, sure made the day interesting.

Been there, done that. Flight on Austrian Air late from Skopje to Vienna, but our flight to Amsterdam left without us. Waited stand by for the last flight. Last ones one the plane. Snowstorm. De icing. Arrived in Amsterdam late and a tough night at the airport hotel. Not again.

Oh yes, we've had to run in an airport! Twice in fact, and both on the same journey to India from London Heathrow last summer. First time was because my other half and my daughter got carried away in the duty free perfume shop at Heathrow - son and I were frantically trying to call them but they weren't picking up, so my son sprinted to collect them. Then (like for you here) the first flight was delayed and we had a 1 hour changeover in Doha which was reduced to around 20 minutes. So it was more running for us. But we made it! Looking forward to the Brussels vlogs. :)

800den is a fixed price with the company you used to get to the international airport from any part of the city of Skopje - it's actually the cheapest taxi you can get, compared to other companies that will charge you by the kilometer which which end up costing at least 1500den (almost double) considering the distance of the airport from the city. Other cheaper option is the airport shuttle bus ... but I am not exactly sure how much it costs or if it's frequent, although I've been seeing the airport shuttles a lot recently driving around the city. Also great cardio before you get to all the chocolate, fries and beer goods in Belgium :P
@DanegerAndStacey5 жыл бұрын
We needed the cardio first, just making room haha. 800 seemed decent, we were happy with that.

Omg yes this has happened to me when I was in Europe last year. Our flight from Athens to Doha, Qatar was delayed. So we literally had a sprint to the boarding gate to catch our long 17.5hr flight back to New Zealand. I swear, I have never ran so fast in my life 😂
@DanegerAndStacey5 жыл бұрын
Oh shit that's not a flight you want to miss! We were panicked because it's never ideal, but a Euro flight is easier replaced. The longest leg in the world (is that still the case?) not so much!

That was just some extra cardio before eating all the Belgian food :-P I always say that if you travel for more than a few days and everything goes according to plan, you're doing it wrong ahah A change of plan sure is an inconvenience, especially when travelling is part of your job, but as long as you're safe, I guess one just has to accept that these things happen.
