To your question on the side mount. It could be that they wanted to show off what the printer could do. They gave you the model, they gave you the screws, and they gave you the first useful project you could print using the carbon fiber that the printer is designed to print.

Printing a better spool holder is a major step in the 3d printing experience and Creality did include a stupid one on the back on purpose, so people can say to themselves: "I improved it". Really nice thinking.

printed the lid extender and lid hinges from some carbon fiber i'd used to print the side mount. The hanger worked great on the hinges for me too. i should have printed the mod to relocate the sensor first, the carbon fiber got hung up feeding from the side to the back and had a do over on the lid extender, fed from the back using a dryer instead and printed without issue. Parts printed beautifully, look and function well, only had issue with hole alignment on one corner. i've ordered some nylon for the door hinges, i think that's a good call on your part, plus i want to see how the K1C prints nylon. Thanks again, for me, these are all great upgrades.

@ThatsPety it's a great resin printer that was up and printing in less than 20 minutes. The few print fails have been my fault due to bad support placement. Just don't bother with their wash and cure station. Anycubic's is better and cheaper. Beware the amount of space it all takes up though.

Glad to see another video. And love the pod cast. I have a k1 with a lot of mods including the riser. I originally used pla like you did and it started to warp after a while as I print quite a bit of abs. So I ended up reprinting the riser in ABS. So maybe you will have better luck as you used CF PLA. I might be a bit more temperature resistant. I still love the k1. Once rooted and fixing the bed and making it level it is a great printer and is now my favorite out of my 4 printers.

It isn’t a problem for the spool to be on the back, it is a preference. Having hardware to mount side or back leaves it up to the end user to decide. Some people may need it mounted on the back, like me. My printers are closer together, having the spool on the side is not ideal for me, as I would only fit 3 printers on a rack, But with back mounted spool i can fit 4 printers on a the rack and i have a walkway to reach the back of my printers easily.

I still cannot feed the filament into my K1C easily and am tempted to feed it through the roof in a vertical loop like the old Flashforge Finders used to. The filament goes through a sharp turn just before the extruder and I'm having to push it hard to get it loading. Maybe make a large tall plastic cover for it. If it gets to that stage, I'd also move the filament sensor to the side front to make loading easy while facing it.
@fuelvolts
@fuelvolts 8 күн бұрын
I have a K1 SE (K1C without an enclosure) so this isn't super useful, but I don't mind the filament spool in the back as my printer is on the right side of my work bench with room on the right side for me to walk around to load filament. Plus, I don't have the screws on the side to even mount a side mounted filament holder.

Hi Guy. Noel here - a short-tempered impatient Vietnam vet from down here in australia. I just bought a K1C from Creality and am in the process of assembling it right now, and really appreciate all the work you have put nto the upgrade, and am hoping you can help me (I am willing to pay $$). My unit didn't come with the triangular piece to hold the filament spools on the side of the casing. Have, by and chance, designed an .stl for this triaangular piece? Noel
@hot_wheelz
@hot_wheelz 5 ай бұрын
Hi Noel, I could be mistaken, but I believe that the triangular bracket used to side mount the spool holder on the K1C is included in the presliced models that come with the printer. All you need to do is select it from the list and print it.

Creality cannot please everybody they’ve produced a super slick looking machine that you are able to customise to your own preference. if they had put the spool holder on the side, someone would be on here complaining that it makes the printer look bulky, and would be printing a spool holder to mount it on the back.

Nice work. I don't think I've ever bought any kind of device that couldn't use some sort of user mods. It must be some kind of sickness or something. Ever since I was a kid, I had to take stuff apart to see what made it tick and to see what I could do to improve on it somehow. I couldn't begin to count how many perfectly good toys and appliances I've ruined thinking I could improve on them. It's always nice when the mods work out the way we wanted them to though. It's kind of like getting an engineering degree the hard way, through trial and error; mostly error in my case.

My number one complaint about the K1C is that the nozzle seems to get clogged easier, and when it gets clogged, half the time I can't get it unclogged. I tried raising the temp to 300 °C, poking at. it with the nozzle needle things, letting it sit in a solvent for a few days, and even just torching the entire thing with a little butane torch. The butane torch got some out, but not enough to actually unclog it. And those nozzles aren't cheap >_

Did you shoot this content thanks to a sponsorship agreement? Did Creality give you this printer for free or did they pay you to shoot this video?

There was no money given to me nor did they sponsor this video

Why on earth would a company sponsor a video that is focused entirely on modifying their product to fix design problems?

If you’re not a dyi or maker then I wouldn’t buy a 3d printer. I would guess they have you print side spool holder to keep price down.

I am glad the didn't put the filament spool on the side. I have multiple printers lined up and I go to the other side of the table to load all the printers. Takes up less space.

I wish I had that luxury! This was the best solution for my needs and space however.

these modifications are so basic why can they not incorporate this into the design of the machine right from the beginning . Why do we have to constantly ask manufacturers to put the switch at the front

This is absolutely unacceptable that were needing to make functional upgrades to a $600 printer....if yours even work well

Yeah, but it's still fun adding these to the printer. Gives me a reason to be out in the shop.

That's the beauty of creality printers and the 3d printing community. It's like the youngest child, troublesome, but you gotta spoil em with goodies. Open source all the way.

It's very sad that it has to be corrected after the factory. The printer doesn't cost $1. Should I pay $600 and print the parts at home?? I wonder if it will be the same with K2. We'll do shit and you can fix it at home. Give us your money and fuck off.
