No reason to compare as they are different bands, but man, what a beast collaboration it would be if Chuck and Muhammed collaborated in some mythical band somewhere, and you know what? Muhammed would be in awe of Chuck, and Chuck would be impressed by Muhammed, and I can't even speak for what would result from that.

Necrophagist proves that you don't need to have bullshit drop tuning with 8 or 9 strings to sound heavy. That shit is for fucking posers. You can still be heavy and shred like a beast with just standard D tuning. Anything past drop A is just unnecessary. People need to realize that
@whoopigoldberg46608 жыл бұрын
If you tune down to drop a you might as well use a 7 string though

Hmm... Necrophagist... It doesn't seem that technical to be honest. Fast riffing and classically influenced shred solos.. Seems pretty generic to me, so without any hateful replies, tell me what's so technical about this? It's in basically every death metal. And does that guy even know how to sing clean? Like damn it's painful to hear. Riffs are good but boring.
@timetoshred246110 жыл бұрын
I think you forget necrophagist was one of the first bands to bring technical death metal back, the bands you hear today are actually evolved from the point where necrophagist left; wich is a good thing ofcourse
@necrov2310 жыл бұрын
Necrophagist is still much better than a lot of those bands today as well. Scott Xu have you tried playing any of their songs? This track I would argue is by far their easiest to play. You are right there are more technical bands no question, but a lot of them lack the song writing and musicianship that Necrophagist has. A huge mistake fans that dont play an instrument often make is thinking that whatever sounds the most "technical" is the hardest to play. You can make some pretty insane sounding shit using legato picking and chromatic or otherwise just very random patters, fairly easily. But to have a high degree of technicality and challenge woven into actual good riff and songwriting, not to mention to play it on guitar while doing different vocal patterns, is quite impressive.
@lamaenfeu980410 жыл бұрын
not technical ?? do you even play guitar ?
@YoLpIsBest10 жыл бұрын
"Riffs are good but boring", That pretty much sums up your message; it makes no sense whatsoever. Necrophagist is really damn technical. Have you tried to play this song? They utilize a lot of different types of time signatures like this song which features 7/4 (after the drum and bass intro which is in 3/4).

While I'm not sure if Necrophagist have in fact broken up, former drummer Marco Minnemann said in August 2012 that the band was working on new material, Obscura was not formed in the ashes of Necrophagist. Obscura was formed in 2002 by two former members of Necrophagist, but the two bands do or did, depending on the current state Necrophagist is in, coexist in the realm of technical death metal. Both are incredible bands, and I hope that Necrophagist will resurface, soon.
