Robert Baratheon was so much better in the show than the books. Book Robert came off as nothing but a great, drunken lummox, but there was a bit more to him than that in the show. @justink5000 Жыл бұрын
@@michielmanders9766 you think so? I never got the impression he even really knew Lyanna. He has always seemed more enamored by the idea of her. Also, Lyanna didn't even want to marry him. I think what really "broke" him, as you say, is the boredom of being king; the fact that his physical strength doesn't matter anymore and he's instead supposed to be scheming against Varys, Littlefinger and the Lannisters, which is absolutely not his strong suit. He has basically been living a life diametrically opposed to what his character and abilities are like, and on top of that, he developed an addiction to alcohol. He probably projected a lot of his negative emotions on the loss of Lyanna so he didn't have to face the real reason below it.

I want more than to continue complaining and cracking jokes on D&D. I want a better or new adaptation, one that continues the lore. I want a Season 2 for this show's Telltale Games series, and I want the writing for this show to revert to the quality of GRRM's, with character development and set design to match that quality. And I won't have any more of these disappointing finales, no. The time for rulers by the likes of D&D is over, passed to the wind like piss on the Sand! Now is the time for a devoted fan to produce a spin-off that can get adopted, moulded from fire by the wheel of dedication, and thrust upon the world by a crowdfunded chariot. And I want to pretend I have the reins, or I think I do, until the directors throw me a curveball of some sense. But at least then, we'll have a curveball of a spin-off that makes more sense than the predictable writers of Season 8 Game of Thrones were for the world. This, I yearn for. This, I desire.

@jammydodger2774 жыл бұрын
Ned wasn't just trying to avoid slaughter of children with Blobert (14:30). He was hoping for Blob's redemption, by becoming a good man like he used to be, who Ned loved as a young rebel, who would spare a Targaryen. In "Song" Ned gets furious with Blobbo when he gets this murderous, accidentally letting his composure slip over this one issue. He's trying to play a long game to redeem Blobbish and protect Jon who he also loves, but fails epicly, and he knows that he's failing which means Mr Honour has to keep lying to his King and everyone else, which he hates and gets cranky about. Ned would only slip like this when he's ashamed or lying or not being a straight-up honour-peddler. Big subtext there. Or maybe I missed the joke. But otherwise, loving your vids please do more. This is pretty good! When it comes to Ned's failure, I tend to agree with Steven Attewell, who says that Ned failed because he didn't really use his power as Hand. Sure, being so honorable didn't help, but using his power would have given him a very good chance to not fail despite his honor. That's the only major _issue_ I have with what you say, but I enjoyed this very much and am glad to know you're working on more. If I might allow myself a suggestion, I don't know much about making videos and stuff, but I would say something: you like to insert text here and there. Most of the time, those lines are pretty funny; the thing is that they don't last long enough for one to read them without having to go back and pause them. I like to read those little comments, so, for instance, I wouldn't mind if they lasted a bit longer to give me time to pause the video without having to go back.

These help you see more many more details in each season episode and let you understand the feelings you had more clearly, *so having more of them would be beautiful*

For me, Season 8 has killed any motivation to rewatch this series, ever. I can barely endure hearing the theme song.

I like the dichotomy of Ned's belief that passing judgement means you should carry it out yourself, while his own death was ordered by a pissant who knows nothing of responsibility and carried out by someone who's doing a job. It's also interesting that Bran was the one getting the lesson, considering where he ended up. He'll have the job of passing sentences, but simply won't give a crap about any of it.

Amazing story and themes breakdown; I hope we get more!

i've thought about this series so much but i never realized until now that ned's story is bookended by beheadings, with ned in opposite positions

Season 1 was the best. So much subtle storytelling and foreshadowing.
