Thank you so much! I was sewing away and pieces started falling on my fabric! I thought the small piece had broken off the shaft. So glad i found your video showing all the parts. I was panicking until i realized it's not broken. The screw in the back just came out!

Thank you so much!! Your video saved me a ton of money. My screw came loose while I was embroidering on my Ruby Royale. Luckily the part is identical to your model. My part was not broken and I was able to put it all back together and on my machine thanks to your good details and great video.

Yeah. I needed this video. Even though I had to watch it a few times. The crescent piece is a bugger

I had to take mine in and get the entire shank and clamping parts replaced. It was a poor design. I saw the broken pieces of metal from inside the clamp fall into my hand as I was changing the needle. You could see there was nothing in there left to hold the needle screw in place. I did try to fix it myself first, but I had other issues that were of concern so I just took it to the shop. It was about $275 with the cleaning and also a replacement of the bobbin case mechanism as well, which was badly scratched causing the thread to catch and jam. He also tied up some wires that were loose and affected my screen making it get lines up and down it so that I could not see nor touch anything. I bought this machine new when it first came out. I have had it cleaned and serviced every couple of years, and this is the first time I’ve had a problem with it.

Well it sounds like it was time for servicing. Definitely a good idea when you have multiple problems going on. I already had my screen replaced, and had it serviced. This issue was something that I knew I could do myself with out touching anything inside the machine. I don’t recommend taking anything apart that’s inside the plastic housing

Thank you. Mine has failed twice now.

I’m so sorry, these machines aren’t really very reliable anymore. The company was sold off and its not manufactured well now.

Thank you. Mine is also broken. Was the inside of yours stripped?

Mine was stripped! 😮 I talked to a Viking dealer at Joann’s and she said that it is a super common problem with sewing machines that have this type of needle clamp. They (being the manufacturer/designers) have since discontinued this type of needle clamp (part of the reason why the replacement part is so expensive. I *think* my replacement part was close to $80…. ) The lady also told me that these needle clamps (and automatic threaders) usually only hold up for a year or two , assuming daily wear. I used my machine every day for 4-10 hours and sure enough both the automatic threader and the needle clamp hole were out of commission within that time frame. Really makes me wonder how they can charge thousands of dollars just to cheap/flimsy movable parts. 😢
