Polly was one of the gems of my childhood! I'm a 2000s baby, so I grew up with the generation of Polly being average-sized, not compact, so when I found out how tiny they're supposed to be, I was shooketh. I think I still have the dolls with the magnetized clothing!

I grew up with Polly Pocket being bigger, with the rubber clothes. I had loved the small car that could turn into a limo with a jacuzzi in the back. I had only found out about Polly Pocket's orignal look after I had grown up and reached high school. I honestly would have loved the original compact version. The new ones don't seem small enough.

My only contact with Polly Pocket as a child was the 2010 website- I was obsessed with the games in there, specially one where you could decorate a building/terrace(?) And also a cousin had a few playsets, and I thought the little drinks they came with for the dolls that could stick on surfaces were really cool xd

In Denmark it wasn't until Polly entered her large plastic toy with rubber clothes era in the early 2000's that she arrived and was commercially available. Some small older sets could be bought, but they were from specialty stores. As a result, Polly primarely exists in Danish minds a non-pocket-sized toy. Unless you bothered studyingher history and suddnely her name made sense again. She stopped being a big seller when she hit her magnet clothes era (not the magnet furniture and walls era, still went strong during that) Me and my sister were crasy about her, and we still have our toys. Only ever lost like 3 rubber clothes items (1 bathing suit torn, 2 shoes squeezed so much together they fused), but I did loose the glitter and glitter glue from her house set and the clay/playfough from the mall set. But then again, stuff like that just dissappears even if you care a lot about them. Because my sister and I lived in a house where it was okay for both boys and girls to play with both all toys and not strictly theone matching your gender I got a good feel for the toys and had a ton of fun as a small boy. I was immensly glad that my mom let me play with girly toys simply just cus I got to explore what I liked playing with (My favoritetoy was LEGO and still is. I own a lot of mixed gendered LEGO sets)

The small size is really cute too. I didn’t realize how much changes Polly Pocket went through. I’d say personally I’m a big fan of Polly Pocket being a genius/problem solver in the newest show since I am a nerd myself. I liked that she has various friends too and explains why Polly Pocket can become small then big again, it makes sense.

I grew up with the first generation of Polly Pocket toys, had no idea there was animated episodes / series of them! My favourite toy was a play set that consisted of a piece of "land" that had a house, a swing and a lake on it, with the doll being magnetised and the playset having a little remote which moved the doll around being able to make her do various stuff like going to bed and alike without ever needing to lift her up with your hands. It was great and as a kid I was convinced it was some sort of magic since it was too advanced mechanics for me to grasp xD

When I was little, like 6 or so, my sister got a Polly Pocket compact playset with these stamps implemented in for Christmas. I got upset and she shoved it in my face and started bragging about how she got one and I didn’t. I bit a chunk out of her, like the size of a quarter, she has a scar still 20 years later and I have no memory of the attack, but I do still remember that deep seething rage. I had that ✨Polly Pocket Possession✨, ironically I’m fairly sure we only ever got a few of those larger sized ones.

I got into Polly Pocket around the time the first movie was released, I remember having the roller coaster play set, and how rubbery those dresses were. I remembering loving the webisode series, always checking when the next one would come out. I remember after a while they kept making new iterations of them where they kept picking off her friends, until she was left with about four (not including the boy). And then the newest cartoon kept that trend by leaving her with only three. I’m glad to see you also thought the cutants were a good idea, I really liked them as a kid and was sad when they just stopped doing them. Also, have you considered checking out he website or the games? I remember those being super fun as kid, my greatest achievement was being able to complete the roller coaster game on my second try.

I'm pretty sure whoever gave out all their presents and collected all the balloons first won. My fav. Polly Pocket was the orange hexagon/octogon??? that was an apartment and had a pool. Runner-up was the Swan Lake heart compact with the prince. They re-released it and I got one for me and one for my mom. I still have the original heart compact but sadly my fav. orange one is lost to the ages.

The shoes were the first to go missing, then, since I was an audhd with severe Pica, I loved to chew on the rubber clothes (great flavor and texture, 100% would recommend [please don’t eat plastic kids]) so they were lost, and finally I lost the bodies, so I just had a bunch of decapitated heads on my toys drawer.

I had the quick change limo and I think two of the friends that came with a stand and some more clothes. I was pretty surprised the first time I learned about the silicone/rubber clothes. Just from the pictures, the original compacts are the best. Although the magnetic clothes are top notch (aside from the choking hazard and being easy to lose). I remember loving how quick I could change their outfits since that was something that always messed with "stories" whenever I played with my barbies. Plus there were magnetic hair pieces too!

My family had both the original and 2000s Polly Pocket toys, but way more of the latter. I preferred them because I preferred fashion dolls as a kid. Something you missed (I haven't seen anyone else talk about them actually) was the brief period in the 2000s when there was a line of Polly Pocket toys that were smaller than the fashion dolls, but bigger than the original (maybe closest to the modern size?), that had magnets on their hands and feet. They were sold with playsets that I believe contained magnets as well. They're in this video from 0:21-0:22. They were most likely discontinued for the same reason the Quick Click clothes were - children swallowing magnets (I remember these magnets very easily falling off, too). I can't be the only one who remembers this era. Also, unrelated to the video's topic but Octopath Traveler 2 ❤

I really miss when Polly Pocket had a mix of being serialized and episodic at the same time with season 1 of the 2018 reboot. It's a shame on how it ended up to be a soft reboot with major changes and how it turned from 22 minute episodes into 11 minute episodes and getting rid of the villains from a cliffhanger ending.

To me Polly Pocket was my whole childhood. I and my sister used to have this thing where we would buy very specific toys and only those toys, for her it was My Little Pony and for me it was Polly Pocket. As someone who was born mid 2000s I grew up with the average-sized ones and I had so many playsets. I had 3 pools, 5-6 cars (one of them had a mini pool/jacuzzi in the back that could make bubbles if you pressed a button) and 2 houses I think. I had everything that was possible to get in my country, which, to be fair, wasn't a lot since Polly Pocket wasn't that well-known where I'm from. You didn't mention it in your video, but the dolls (at least the ones I grew up with) had a removable head. I and my sister used to love that feature a lot. I remember at some point we had dressed all the bodies with different clothing and popped the heads of like maniacs, keeping the 'outfits' in one box and the heads in another so that when we were playing we didn't have to go through the chore of changing the characters clothing, we just had it at the ready by popping the head back in. Another reason this was beneficial was because, after a while, the clothing, which was made from plastic, would tear and rip. I lost a lot of my favourite clothes that way. I also had one Polly that had a drawn on swim suit and rings on her upper arm. She was from a specific playset, a pool one. There was a feature in which she is supposed to spin (?) I'm not sure how to describe it. But anyway there were long downhill parallels that you put her upper arms in and she spins as she goes downhill. I'm pretty sure her hair colour changed too, a pink streak appeared I'm pretty sure. I remember it well because, A, it was the first playset I got when I was 6-7 after my first music exams (piano and theory) (I crushed it btw 10/10), and B, during the summer my mum would let me and my sister to go outside our house on the outside table and actually put water in the pool to play, it one of my favourite memories although they didn't happen often. The other pool isn't that interesting. It was themed after a tropical island or rainforest I'm pretty sure. There was this fake plastic 'vine' that went all around the pool that you could 'connect' your doll to and it would spin around until it reaches the end. And it also had a mini pool for the pets I'm pretty sure, I got it a year after the first one for the exact same reason. It was really fun to play with. For cars, I remember having lots of them. The first one I got was a yellow one with pink details that had a small blue pool/jacuzzi which I mentioned before. The doors opened as well and I'm pretty sure you could move the steering wheel as well. I think all of the cars also had safety belts and that car had pink ones while the seats were blue. I think I got it for my birthday? Either that or it was a pity thing during my sister's birthday because I was a jealous kid that refused to show it even though it was pretty obvious. The other car was a purple one with a green half-detachable roof (you could only detach the front but the back stayed in). I got it from my birthday from my godmother. The other ones weren't really special and I don't remember them well, probably because I wasn't attached to them like the other ones. I remember having another blue one (?) with purple stars and it was a rockstar kind of thing? I also had a small orange one with only two seats and purple stars and seatbelts. I don't remember the last one. For houses, I remember vividly only one because I always used it while my sister and friends used the other one. The one I remember had so many colours. It was pink, it was orange, it was green, it was blue, it was everything. It had two floors. I think you show an add of it actually (timestamp: 02:36). I used to play with it a lot. I don't remember when or why I got it though. I wish I could give details on the other house but my memory is really shitty, especially during my childhood ages 0-14, so I can't remember much. One thing that irritated me to no end, however, was that there were no guy dolls. I and my sister were forced to have the brunettes with short hair act like guys and all the blond pony-tailed ones as girls. I always wished they made guy dolls. Maybe they did and I never knew about them because I didn't have access to the internet. Anyway, all and all, Polly Pocket is my childhood that I will always cherish. I used to get the 'big' presents (playsets) as rewards once a year if I did well in my piano exams, so I will always have a soft spot for the Polly Pocket line. I must say though, I never was a fan of when they decided to give 'plot' to Polly with the whole shrinking down. I mostly didn't like cause it was something new and back then I was in middle school so I hated everything and I felt like they changed Polly too much since I grew up watching Polly as an adventurous sporty girl, not really a nerd. I didn't really except to write so much about it, I'm actually surprised I had so much to say, but yeah, guess that's what happens when you hyper-fixate on one doll line all your childhood lol. Anyway, amazing review as always! I'm really happy to see someone talking about my childhood hyper-fixation since it was never really popular from where I'm from. Sending lots of love

We also had mini polly pocket at my grandma it was our thing back then to go hunt those “relics of the past” as I used to see them in “empty your attic” kind of market (in France, that’s when people gather in organised event were they can sell stuff they don’t use anymore and it’s a treasure hunt every time, I think it’s called garden sell in America but I only ever see one family do it at a time in tv shows when in France it’s all of a marketplace or a few streets that are dedicated to this sort of thing) Anyway I used to love mini polly pockets, this video brought back so many memories

I still have some of my old Polly Pocket toys, from the compacts to the big plastic clothes era. I also had like this magnetic mat with magnetic Polly's that could change outfits but stuck to everything magnetic. The worst thing about Polly Pocket were they were so breakable. The old tiny Polly could snap in half so easily, her arms would break off, and her face would disappear over time. You're right about the plastic clothes from the 2000's as well. The sleeves and pants were the worst offenders. But Polly Pocket was like a top tier toy from my childhood. It was Barbie, Beanie Babies, and Polly Pocket.

I grew up with the bigger ones with stretchy plastic clothes. That was the "real" Polly Pocket for me when I was a kid. xD But I also had some of the compacts and they're cute.

i was part of the rubber/magnetic clothes generation! i even had the radio thing you showed in the video, i'm pretty sure i still have it stored somewhere. my family didn't have enough money back then to buy me all those cute little toys, but i remember that one of my mother's friends had like EVERY SET and clothes and accesories and dolls and i was so amazed to see them all and be able to play with them, it's one of my core memories!

I have a huge collection of 90's polly. The sad thing is that I lost most of the dolls. I remember loving them, beeing able to bring two or three with me easily was amazing

The modern polly pocket was good than her family found out and it just went down

There really was something special about the original 90s Polly Pocket toys. Chocking hazard for toddlers aside, they were designed to create these tiny little fantasy worlds for your imagination to explore. For a TV show maybe they should have gone with the lockets transporting you to different magical locations or worlds, because that's what it felt like playing with them. Like Kingdom Hearts but simpler. I had one where the doll came in a heart gem locket. There were locket sized mini playsets, but this was just to hold the doll. It looked like she was encased in the gem when she was in it. Also had a couple of the compacts and have great memories admiring the ones my friends had. In kindergarten I got swindled by a neighbor to give her my gorgeous Polly Pocket pencil case, it was so cool (Google it). It was a dollhouse-type playset in the lid of the pencil case. Still kinda hurts thinking about it over 20 years later lol. Disney also had similar toys for their IPs. One of my favourite childhood toys was a Cinderella's castle that came with tiny plastic Polly Pocket-like dolls. It was GORGEOUS. It was small considering it's a whole castle, but so many little details and hidden secrets. Had beautifully detailed little rooms and areas that referenced scenes in the movie. It also had windows and little lights that could light up in certain areas. The beauty of miniature toys is how much you had to play with without being overwhelmed with how much space it took up or being too bulky to play with.

I looked up the Cinderella castle, turns out it was by the original Polly Pocket creators Bluebird. Those guys working at Bluebird were amazing, their toys felt like art pieces.

I had two of the tiny doll compacts. The green flower one was a pool with a fold out pink water slide. The pink heart was way bigger, a castle and grounds set with light up parts and a bunch of rooms inside the unfoldable castle. I think that one had a little horse-drawn carriage.

I had the 2000s polly pocket with the rubbery plastic clothes, and as a little kid I would chew on the clothes like gum. Never swallowed them but I did that for way too long and now I think polly pocket I think of those clothes

I was into Polly Pocket a lot in my Preschool-Elementary age. I think I got into it during the Ponytail Era (TM). I know I had a few of the playsets like the beach one shown in the video, an airplane, and probably others I don't remember at this point. The dolls were really cool to me and I had a lot of fun dressing them up for various imaginary scenes. If I was still into playing with them when the anime appearance change happened, I wasn't buying the products anymore so I never noticed.

I was obsessed with the “weird anime” version. I had the rockstar house and it came with a dvd with the show. The magnet clothes were so cool, and I liked the plastic rubber clothes too. 10/10 my favorite toy as a child (it’s small size beat out Barbie). Again elementary/ middle school me loved the 2010 series so I still have a lot of nostalgia for it.

Love the shirt. I was OBSESED with polly pocket growing up. I had the 3 inch ones. Ironically when I was smaller I had the tiny ones and like the rarest set of all being the theme park one. When the newer ones came out I thought they looked gross with giant heads and giant feet. I do like that they brought back the og pollies.
