You know when it was first revealed in Flowers that Jeanne died? I felt incredibly salty. It wasn't like she was my favorite character, but the entire idea really bugged me. Red Crimson made me feel a lot better about it tho. I'm really not a fan of the dead wife trope which is often just used to make the husband miserable. The dead wife usually doesn't get any agency in it and it just feels like their characters are thrown away. But Jeanne's death scene felt different from that. She died for her convictions and she didn't feel helpless. She showed a lot of agency! I'm glad her death didn't feel cheap and I'm happy we got to see how she grew. My only hope now is that she somehow gets to finish what she started: Save the Black Maiden. It would be super satisfying if her spirit could lead her to the path of redemption.

This! Agreed, it felt that it basicslly came out of nowhere in Flowers. Where as Red Crimson made it more fleshed out with more meaning behind it to allow the other characters, in this case Ren and Men, to grow more into who they are and their struggles as they save her soul in their own ways. Curious question then actually since you brought up the dead wife trope, what's your opinion on Eliza and Faust's relationship with Eliza being the dead wife? Or do you also feel like with Eliza being basically Faust's motivation and his devotion to her allows him to be himself as well since she returned? Just curious cause to me, he is quite a unique character I haven't seen anybody talk about. 🤔

@@CRCRAZYCHICK97 My opinion about Faust and Eliza is basically that I really like Faust. He is super cool and made the husband griefs for his wife trope his own. Eliza however is a prop. She speaks like once in the series and can't be called a proper character. By killing her there is nothing to throw away (which is what I hate most about the dead wife trope: a female character being trashed for the sake of her husbands suffering). It would've been cooler if Eliza was a character, but since she never was one I don't feel like complaining about what could've been.

@@rinamohn1807 Thank you for answering. 😄 Yeah I agree, while they are my favourite couple and characters in general, it would have been nice to see more Eliza interactions. I know the cartoon remake will be closer to the manga, but I just hope they add a bit more to her to have stand out just a bit more somehow, even if it means more motion than words. My conclusion as a kid was that she never spoke cause she only understood the words, just not confident speaking it. Then she spoke in one line in the Ice Men episode. 👀 Here's hoping! 😍

I would love to have Red Crimson be animated, in my personal opinion. Quite a lot of combat scenes and if they added some little bit more to the lore in when it's the calmer scenes, it would be awesome! I don't know, I think this has potential if animated. 🤔😍

Again, Hiroyuki Takei reuses his older designs a lot. Sati and Anna and a lot of his character designs originated in manga he made which aren't Shaman King canon.

it's pronounced "jiANG shi" (i'm PRETTY sure but not 100% cause i'm not chinese) and they are more than just zombies you control: they are "hopping vampires" that are the product of not properly burying the dead,who then come back as a psychic vampire that hops around as it feeds off your life energy the same way a zombie feeds off your brain or a vampire feeds off your blood.

For the record, you're probably not going to get the pronunciation of "jiang-shi" right no matter what you do due to the sheer breadth of Chinese dialects. Based on some *VERY* cursory research, the "jang-shee" pronunciation is Mandarin, while "gong-zee" is Cantonese, and there's even one that's something like "keeong-zee" in some dialect I've never heard of (though it's probably where the Japanese pronunciation of "kyon-shee" comes from). Completely separate from Shaman King, I once saw a Chinese horror movie that prominently featured the hopping zombies that used the Cantonese pronunciation, so it's always gonna' be "gong-zee" to me.
