With the original pick-guard and the routing it looks like it would have come with some kind of mini-humbucker or something of a similar size. I think Fender have been doing some similar sized 'gold foil' pickups recently but that is probably a fair bit more than anyone would want to pay for fitting in one of these. Personally, I would probably have tried something like a hot-rails style pickup rather than carving out for the p-bass style pickup. Another method that might have been good for repairing the binding (or at least for smaller areas that had been damaged) is by filling the damaged areas with baking soda followed by super-glue. It essentially instantly turns into a brittle plastic type material that can be sanded down into shape - just don't use the gel style super-glues for that.

All great points. I like the baking soda and super glue method. It worked well for me in the past. This also originally had a metal cover over that big chunky pickup. The OG pickguard is still intact, so if I run across the appropriate pickup in the future, I can always reinstall it or just cut a new one. I just wanted it off the wall and playing. On a budget, as always 😄 Thanks for watching 🤘

Great choice of the three sets of knobs. I was hoping to see a fill-in and recolor of the big blemish at the end of the pickguard. Nice restomod on the Teisco. I agree with you that the headstock shape is very cool! Now it needs to be played to make the shiny pickguard look worn in. What is the scale length?

@jbrobertson2758 I had considered fixing that chip out, but decided to keep the vintage look. If the tuners and bridge had less rust, I might have. Not sure of the scale, but it very short. Dudes been playing it all week and is loving it. Thanks for watching 🤘
