He didn't neglect her on purpose, he got too old and weak to care for her properly, so he gave her away. This is exactly what he should've done - it's the ideal scenario. @@Hollyucinogen This is NOT the idea scenario, what are you talking about?! That pony is in daily pain. The owner knew they were unable to care for this pony. It takes years of neglect for hooves to become this long. It causes PERMANENT painful deformity & distortion of the bones & muscles--that's why the rescuer breaths a sigh of relief at one point when they discover that miraculously it appears there may not be permanent deformity. This is abject intentional cruelty. Instead of finding another home for this pony YEARS ago before this situation arose, the owner simply chose to neglect the pony. Humans get old--every human knows that. But responsible animal owners acknowledge their reduced capacity & formulate a plan for rehoming, rather than allowing the neglect to reach this level.

Bloody hell...who does this? That is just cruel. I have horses and the old saying " no feet no horse " is true. My guys get their hooves done every 8 weeks in the summer and 6 in the winter. Bless the ladies that rescued her and the farrier for all his patience and skill.

What a complete relief this tlc must have been, I expected her, once she realised the overgrown hooves were trimmed, to prance & skip around the paddock, but, having lived with this so long, she may take a couple of days to enjoy her new dancing shoes. Those who neglected her, deserve some severe life lessons. She's such a sweetheart, I'm glad that she hasn't developed any severe complications. Life will be so much brighter now. Thankyou for your tender loving care of this poor baby.
