Neighbor is STILL MAD we're doing OUR JOB! Pt. 3 of the 40 yard pour

Hello everyone welcome back this is part 3 in this 40 yard pour series! In this video we pour concrete in the back and side yard, as well as spray top-cast on the concrete in order to achieve a sand wash finish. We will also be finishing up laying rebar in the front yard and prepping for the final pour day! Sit back relax and enjoy!

The nice thing about sand cast finish is that its even. Eventually the cement gets that finish, but only in uncovered exposed areas. Areas under overhangs or roofs either never get that finish or take a lot of pressure washing to get there.

Exposed gravel or the sandwash finish are the most visually appealing around a house. But I think people often always try to save a little extra where they can so they skip it lol. Oh well.

Exposed aggregate looks so beautiful and natural like stone, with the right colours etc. it can be amazing with concrete. For external installations it should be the standard really, it's just a bit of extra work.

Preventing it cracking a lot times of seeing using a concrete saw to make sure it’s cut deep enough down into the joint as the joint makes a big difference too!

A few questions: 1) Does Dad have any advice on interviewing neighbors before accepting a job! 2) Did you go back over the pressure washed areas with a sealer? 3) Where was Frank Zappa? Also, that sand wash REALLY looked good. But I would never try it. I barely feel confident about my broom finishes. In fact, if I had a stamp or slate roller, I'd use that. But your finish looked great!

Concrete looks like soup and seems to have a lot of water coming to the top so is that a normal mix? And what makes it strong when using so much water?

They made it more wet because it was a big pour, didnt want concrete to get out ahead of them. It was a 3000psi mix so plenty strong for walkways. When they pour driveway Im sure theyll pour it stiffer 👍

I always prefer the sand washed finish!! Timeless!! This was a standard finish for concrete everywhere - I wonder how did they do it back before they had the chemicals and pressure washing???

Sugar water acts as a surface retarder. The classic method is spraying coke on the surface. And then washing it off with regular water from a hose and scrubbing with a broom. Many people still do it this way.

Here's the way I see it..... if you're there at 7:00 a.m. and making more noise than what a typical person would make by walking from their door to their car, then you are potentially causing a disturbance. If you are just walking around your site area and just checking things over and not clanging tools or banging on things, I don't know that they can necessarily do anything. However, if you're making a lot of noise like using hammers or other things before 7:00 a.m., then whether you like it or not, they are in the right. You do have to be respectful of neighbors whether you like it or not. But, again, I believe that it depends on what specifically you are doing. If you aren't really making any noise with tools or machinery or equipment, then the person that is complaining needs to just take it up with the city and deal with it that way. Like it or not, I know it sucks but the 7:00 a.m. rule is acceptable for most cities for when construction can begin.
