Joel D'Souza she didn't leave him empty when she left him..Even though they are not together, that love gave him something. So even though he wants her back, he can respect her wishes..he is not going away from this empty handed.

"How beautiful and tragic it is, to feel everything so deeply." Neil, you're a beautiful poet and Honestly, my favorite. You feel everything so deeply and you understand, you understand my thoughts and put it into a poem, you put it into words, everything I feel about my own lost loves or life in general. You're beautiful.

When you smile because of the 'masturbate in public' part and then your smile slowly starts to turn into tears. Love this so much.

This is the poem that I wake up to at night. When I wake up sweating and gasping, choking on air and tangled in sheets that fit just a little unright. "In her, you have seen the color and shape of your perfect life." I see these lines and hear them and I can't breathe because I imagine the way they have a future that I don't. "I can! I can! I can!" This is the sound of the beating heart that stabs itself further and further onto the knife embedded in your chest. "Because she filled something in you that's still full. Even though she's gone."

This has been my favorite poem for 5+ years. I listen to it often. I share it with anyone I think may need it. Some days though, like today. I don’t play it. I see it in the suggestions, I sit with it paused for a moment. I catch my breath. I smile, unconvincingly, then till it hurts my cheeks, then i move on.

3:06AM and I'm bawling so hard. Damn. It ended in a way I know reconciling would be a very bad idea but it just hit so hard because yes, everything reminds me of him. I saw a future with him and it all made sense, but of course, it was just a dream. Such beautiful art right here.

I think he handled it gracefully, but the masturbate in public line is just as serious as the rest of the poem, it's shocking and vulgar, but it's raw just to feel vulnerable again, fall in love with strangers, all those themes tying into trying to feel whole and in control.
