This is the best interview so far. No BS, no feeling of entitlement, just a genuine and honest interview. Not to mention the abundance of note wordy material. Well done Chase. Great series.

Hi Chase, Neil's point about focusing on the next thing, having a plan about what to do next is apparently backed by research. NASA found that astronauts who returned from missions often became depressed because they realized they would likely never exceed that achievement ever again. The exceptions were those who had a plan as to what they'd do next, they didn't get depressed. As I recall, NASA started to REQUIRE astronauts to make a plan for the "next thing" or they were forbidden from going on the mission until they made the said plan. timbgreen

Brutally honest interview with loads of insights and ideas you can immediately apply to your life. This is like being a fly on the wall whist two creative people give each other therapy advice. @36:13 is such timely advice for me right now. Great stuff. One of the top interviews I've watched this year.

Neil, thanks for investigating these interesting subcultures and creating new versions of them through your experience and interpretation. You are going to leave a permanent influence among certain aspects of humanity long past your death date. Looking forward to seeing what you write when you're in your golden years. Can't deny that "The Game" is important work. Being around those cats and your experiences has given your writing a playful confidence. My fears are the only thing that's keeping punching a clock for a living. I used to create. Why not now? The fire's beginning to burn.

This is the second time I listen to the interview, first time I was at work, now I want to be able to take notes :) Chase Jarvis is a great world leader/teacher in the way I see it and Neil is a great world philosopher/psychologist/teacher. If you want to dive deeper into the whole enmeshment issue and Neil's thoughts and resolutions/evolutions with sex, sexuality, his parents, et cetera, definitely check out Marc Maron's podcast with him. It's one of the most penetratingly honest and intelligent chats by two cis-male, hetero-normative guys re: sexuality and relationships.
