This song is great, reminds me of a guy with Waffle Hair and another guy who is invincible back in the late 1800s

My life's an open book You read it on the radio We got nowhere to hide We got nowhere to go But if you still decide That you want to take a ride Meet me at the wrecking ball Wrecking ball Wear something pretty and white And we'll go dancin' tonight Meet me at the wrecking ball Wrecking ball Wear something pretty and white And we'll go dancin' tonight I see your smoky eyes Right across the bar I've seen that look before Shining from star to star Though I can't take that chance If you got time for one dance Meet me at the wrecking ball Wrecking ball Wear something pretty and white And we'll go dancin' tonight Meet me at the wrecking ball Wrecking ball Wear something pretty and white And we'll go dancin' tonight The restless line of cars Goes stretchin' down the road But I won't telephone 'Cause you might say hello What is it makes me feel this way? What is it makes me want to say Meet me at the wrecking ball Wrecking ball Wear something pretty and white And we'll go dancin' tonight Meet me at the wrecking ball Wrecking ball Wear something pretty and white And we'll go dancin' tonight

Now looking at it again, I believe Freedom 1989 displays an incorrect image. He does not fall in love with a girl at the disco. The wrecking ball is what he sees outside his apartment window, (where they apparently both live) and he dreams that he and his adored neighbor could possibly go out and 'dance' one day. Listen to it again. And if unsure, listen to it again ... and again, if need be. ;-)

He can write songs but where this one is concerend it defiantely sound better with a female voice singing it. Emmylou Harris realy gets the emotions across.
@bjrnrichter74457 жыл бұрын
I agree Emmylou does this one better, like much better, she is simply a better singer and brings much more emotions in to this song
@Dermacrosis7 жыл бұрын
I wouldn't say better singer as it can depend on the song.

To say the wrecking ball is an f' ing disco ball totally discredits the whole thing. Perhaps I am wrong for perhaps giving credit to NY ? The smokey eyes used to be 'right across the hall'. Not 'right across the bar'. I am certain of this . Let's see how many sharp people there are out there ..

I love Neil’s music, but leaving his wife then hooking up with Daryl Hannah, he’s a typical old guy looking for gold. Lost all of my respect. Love his music, wonder about the man.
