Konami had problems with Guy Cihi because he wanted to collect royalties from ports and re-releases of Silent Hill 2, claiming that he owned the rights to his work as James Sunderland. Guy Cihi didn't receive any money but requested the company to add the original voices and give players the option to choose between the original voice acting and the re-dub.

I had no idea motion capture was used for this game. This is probably a key in what makes the original voice so much superior, because they aren't just in an empty studio recording lines, they are on a stage acting it out.

I've heard, from the depths of Team Silent trivia, that the actors (both mocap and voice actors) were told to act disjointed and with uncertainty, as to help assist with the games surreal, eerie, dream-like atmosphere. I'm not sure if this is a hundred percent true, but I think it's worth believing in the myth, because it definitely did work for the game.

I'm genuinely surprised because it's my very first time seeing behind the scene a game that came from early 2000s I never thought they use a mocap suit. It's really interesting to see the early version of this that they have to be attached by this wires while latest mocap nowadays are very high tech. It's so nostalgic seeing these people with apparel and hair style and the looks of early 2000s

Its nice to actually see what's under the visuals of characters, I can now see the actress who voiced & video motion captured the character, Maria instead of just being aware of the character Maria!😃❤️ Watching this for the first time, & being a Silent Hill game fan.........up to number 4 at least, I can instantly recognise what characters the actors are playing!😊👍

I'm actually shocked that so many people haven't seen the full "Making Of" documentary of the SH2. It was included in the bonus disc of European copies of SH2, and is available on KZbin these days. But yeah, when fans say that the voice actors ARE their characters, this is what they mean. The VAs not only provided the characters their voices, they also mocap acted the cutscenes like stageplays, AND even provided their facial features to the 3D models.

Watching the behind the scenes, it’s amazing how this was the early years of motion capture. Best part is all the actors involved in this project did an amazing job portraying their characters. Everyone really got into character and that’s what made the game a big hit. Everyone shun in their own way. I also want to give high praise is to Angela’s voice/motion capture actress. She really nailed her role. Angela IMO had the most emotional impact for me in the game due to her backstory. When she spoke you can feel the pain and confusion in her voice. This game stands a testament of time in a good way. This is what you get when you put your heart and soul into a project.
