This album sounds like one long song in my opinion. Alot of the sounds are repetitive. Era Extraña was nostalgic and every song had its own sound.
@michaelare9 жыл бұрын
+Daniel Aucallanchi no no he has a point dude. The mix on this album objectively does let the flow of the album seem super seamless and to the point that it almost makes every song run together into one big one. Era Extraña definitely had a little more individuality on tracks in terms of the mixes not all running together as much. Still that warm lo fi-ish mixing on both records but you can't just say he's wrong, that's just poor etiquette.

I loved Era Extraña and the mood it has. I like the depressing and nostalgic feeling of it. it was also consistently good. this album's production annoyed me. too much phaser and compression. and not as consistent.

I did actually enjoy Neon Indian's last project, Era Extrana, but I'm impressed by this album. This was the right direction to go. It's fun, catchy, occasionally tacky (but in a way I really enjoy). "Slumlord" is my shit.

This album came out when I was in school and I LOVED it then. It became my comfort album, all of the songs were a vibe, my fave was 61 Cygni Ave. I had so much anticipation for what he would come up with for his next album and then… well, I guess I’ll continue waiting lmao. Now, every time I come back to it, I just feel nostalgic and happy. Definitely one of my favorite albums of all time.

wow did I SLEEP on this album. Heard it once when it released and this week alone I played it 20 times.
@steevhoefchen40448 жыл бұрын
Exactly a year later, and I have to agree with some points made here. This is a very, VERY "melted" record, and this is a post-chillwave sandwich where the meat is the main attraction, Glitzy HIve through Baby Eyes especially. However, even though I was a little bummed the reviewer had little to zero love for Era Extrana, this is the most cohesive long play I've seen Alan Palomo do in his career. Also, if you have the chance to see him live, do it, do it, do it. The man has a stage presence even most of his "Chillwave contemporaries" can't match.

I liked the general groove on this album, but I have to say that it doesn't bring anything new to the table, some synthwave and funk everything dating back to 2013. I agree with you on the influences, I get the Toro y Moi feel on some vocals even. I'm all about that 80's nostalgia but this just felt like a collage of 2012 and 2013 waves. Ill give it a 5 or 6.
