Selling plants as home air purifiers is the biggest grift of all time, a little bit of GMO won't tweak a plants purification properties by 5000x

They're basically suggesting that small plants cycle more air than the amount that gets into the building.

I have over 100 plants in my relatively small bedroom yet I still need 2 air purifiers and 2 regular fans, as well as having the window open regularly. SMH tech bro seems to be a scammer. 🙄🤦🏻♀️ Glad you’re calling this out!

Why the need for two air purifiers?
@monas.68395 ай бұрын
@@Bluetongue. Renting a room - absolutely HORRIBLE air quality between mold in AC system, dander from roommate’s 6 animals (she rarely vacuums whereas I have to every day in my space), and weed smoke wafting around from roommate’s kid lighting up in his bedroom. Just doing what I have to until I can move. Edit: I have an ozone machine too, but I don’t like mentioning it bc ppl lose their minds. It truly helps as much as, if not more than just the air purifiers.

They rely on the general gullibility and non-STEM background of the typical American consumer, as well as the emotional purchasing tendencies of the average plant buyer (predominantly female, statistically). The species Pseudomonas putida is already a definitive concern. While it is less pathogenic to humans compared to Pseudomonas aeruginosa, which is notorious for causing severe illness and mortality among immunocompromised individuals with lung conditions or diabetes, it remains a serious consideration. Similar to Staphylococcus aureus, I would hesitate to knowingly introduce this bacterium into my living environment. A cursory online search reveals that its close relative, P. aeruginosa, is included on the growing list of multi-drug resistant pathogens. - Love, your resident Plant Doc ;)

Yes, they definitely need to put some of their cleaning powder into the their own white paper data. And on top of the "data", if you want to really help purify the air, why use a small leaved plant...bigger leaves are where it's at...imho

They really need to stop trying to market these things to houseplant collectors. Market them to the granola crunchy people who don’t already have houseplants but think this will make their families healthier than just opening a window.

So the normal golden pothos reduced by 83%? And with their tech it's a 87% reduction? How about you just buy two $5 golden pothos and save your money on their special juice. This is most definitely financial advice. Also, they add vents to their pots for aerodynamics. Makes them go faster.

Some tech bros got ideas during Covid and the houseplant craze. They had too much ‘Columbian marching powder’ combined with boredom and personality disorders. Happily for them they were already well connected. After some thoughts they should have kept to themselves during Covid thinking they could fix air they came up with… this thing that doesn’t do anything and is expensive and bullshit. I’m sure they have some good funding because of course they have. I’m so tired of capitalism.

Thanks for chasing down all the science for this! No shade to the influencers who are getting to paid to promote this (please take as much of their money as you can lol)- but when that’s literally the only community of people I know who are excited about it… kiiiiinda felt like boy math. I know I’m the first one to enthusiastically overpay for a new exciting plant trend but I just can’t bring myself to buy a pothos at that price point 😂 I’d rather buy 10 rescues from Chey D PlantLady instead 🤷🏻♀️

I think it might appeal to a completely different demographic who are not from the plant community, probably tech people who have a lot of money and who are health and environment conscious but who do not have the leisure to actually look into how this stuff works, the kind of people who can afford electric cars and eating organic food. Marketing to the plant community seems like a big misstep to me, we mostly care about beautiful plants and I feel like a lot of us are pretty much broke.
