This was about the only time the Firestorm got an opponent into the air. It only happened because Mute used his flipped at the same time that Firestorm used his. The low speed, low pressure hydraulic flipper on Firestorm was unbelievably powerful but extremely slow. He could lift almost anything, he just couldn't throw it. The benefit was that he never ran out of CO2. As long as his batteries were charged, the flipper would work. They always reported it as a pneumatic flipper but it wasn't. That is why when Razer destroyed one of Firestorm's rams, you never saw or heard any air escape. That is also why the flipper, despite one ram being totally and completely destroyed, still worked(not well, but you could see it pushing against Razer's beak when it was being crushed). I think Mute was underrated. I also think it could have seen a lot of success if there would have been a better driver.

The best part of firestorm was when it used the flipping arm in conjunction with driven attack.... in the later series it had a lot of power in the drivetrain to get underneath then roll the oponent multiple times over and land it on the side wall. And as you mentioned it ran as a low pressure flipper, so the weapon would last the duration of the fight. Very good thoughtful design and no wonder firestorm nearly always made it to the grand final... and also the only robot to ever flip My Pyscho.

Hydraulic? Firestorm's weapon was pneumatic

Mute is probably the luckiest robot in the 7th wars.

Nivada Stars - It was horribly flawed, it never really got under any other robots, and when it did they couldn't travel up its wedge because of the spikes on top, plus the flipper was too powerful to be able to self-right, so yes you're right it rode it's luck an awful lot. It definitely had potential, however the overall design wasn't great, even if they'd just stuck to a smooth top armour on the wedge it would have been far easier to penetrate the ground clearance of other robots.

Smart of Firestorm to place Mute there. They knew if they fired the flipper, they'd somersault themselves out of the arena.

Edited fight. Mute got in a lot more attacks then this fight showed. And Judge died on one side.

Oh Mute you magnificent bastard. Yeah it wasn't very good, but I'd take Mute over lots of the boring flippers like M2, Grim Reaper, Raging Reality, St Agro and Bulldog Breed.

is it just me or is this really boring
@SonOfFurzehatt7 жыл бұрын
Kyle Mccollum It's not just you. I thought at the time that Mute was a bad design. Overpowered, to highly angled at the front for that type of flipper. They were more of a push-bot.

I know alot of time and planing go into making this robot but it really is hard to watch .I guess I just want more metal flying around makes for better show

Kyle Mccollum - no, it's not just you. Lots of people (often those with a wealth of full-metal-jacket extreme video gaming experience) only want to see modern drum and bar spinners ripping other bots apart. I'm not one of them - I like everything about all kinds of robot fights. But if you're wondering why the contestants themselves don't find this kind of thing boring, it's because actually controlling the robots is BRILLIANT fun - even when you're losing! Maybe it's a bit like golf, or fishing, or flying RC aircraft, or racing FPV quad-copters, or having sex - it's way more fun to do it yourself than to sit and watch someone else having a go... ;-)
