some comments prove the 'they saw & still would not believe' mindset, which shows its the Holy Spirit & not evidence we need to rely upon, i believe in the book of Mormon, so for me this isn't the basis of my belief but a sweet bonus :)

0:46 "It lies ALMOST exactly east." Which fits perfectly with 1 Nephi 17:1 "And it came to pass that we did again take our journey in the wilderness; and we did travel NEARLY eastward" It never says they traveled completely east, but nearly eastward or almost east, however you want to say it.

It's been hundred of years since Lehi traveled those lands. Many changes have taken place since.. earth quakes, storms, landscapes, droughts, etc. Over time the land changes, deserts become flush with all sorts of plants and vegetation; places where it was bountiful become desert, and so forth. All that Lehi saw and describe is probably in different terrains in this day and age.

Very, very interesting. As time moves forward, all those naysayers who have foolishly mocked and derided the Book of Mormon as a thing of naught will regret their lack of faith and interest in Another Testament of Jesus Christ. It is true. And anyone can come to know this for themselves through the undeniable power of the Holy Spirit. Mormons always send people directly to God.

@fairldsorg Then whats up with the maps that Ive seen with Bountiful placed in the area of what looks like Mexico. Are there several locations of a place called "Bountiful" just like there is a Bountiful today in Utah?
@fightswordradio3735

Correct. They named the spot on the Arabian coast because of its much fruit and wild honey. Later in book of mormon, like centuries of history later, a city and the surrounding lands were named bountiful.

How can folks really doubt anymore? I just did a "video share" to link THIS one along with another I have uploaded. It's an absolute possibility that these folks; the family of Lehi and Ishmael had brought with themselves this "unknown language" and decided to "Carve it on rocks" upon the American continent. Fascinating! Oh and this land seems like "Bountiful" and matches it perfectly.

There were more than one hill cumoras in the book of mormon. the hill where moroni hid the plates was obviously quiet and secluded other wise he would not have buried them there. this is my understanding. ... but there is a tone of evidence of fortifications they built in the heart of u.s.a.

I'm an Archaeologist as well. I went there with Dr. Joseph Allen ( Phd. in Ancient Studies at Byu) I can tell you its no "Bountiful". It's a few acres at most. It sits in a small area where the desert meets the ocean. There is a miniscule creek that comes down the Wadi when there is a rare rain. The moisture from the ocean is nowhere near enough to keep the creek going. Any greenery consists of grasses within a small area and few trees grasping at life and waiting for rain. The moisture from the ocean only happens sporadically. It is not constant! When I was there it was dangerously hot and dry. You would not survive for long. I dont know if the location has improved since then, but I think that any traveller going there would press on. The worst part is the mosquitos. It's impossible to relate how relentless and unbearable the are. I had to get shots just to be there. Most notably malaria. Not sure how ancient people could deal with that. I'm guessing they had no preventive cure that science would recognize. Another troubling thing is, just looking at the map of the route that has been proposed. I readily admit that I would be shocked if they and others, had no knowledge of major bodies of water. The proposed route parallels the Red Sea for hundreds of miles. Maybe God wanted them to suffer. But they could have embarked from Aquaba, sailing smoothly down the Red Sea. No desert to suffer through. Fish to eat etc. I understand you're trying to bolster your position. That I can understand. What I can't abide is self-contradiction. Then you lose all intellectual credibility. In over half a century as a Mormon, I have never heard, even remotely, a non-childish explanation to the next question. I assume you're well acquainted with the laws of logic. Why would any church member have the need for faith, if all this evidence shows its true? Faith and evidence are at odds. If you have irrefutable evidence of a religious claim, what possible use would faith be? The only thing I find more intellectually offensive, it's the notion of building your faith. If anything, or event happens to you that bolsters your faith, it's ultimately because you interpret that as a type of evidence for your position. Let's say you prayed for grandma to get better and she does. Real or not, it confirms in their minds that God, interceded. They may then make the claim that it made her faith grow. In her mind she connects the event to her faith. So her faith was then increased by the event. Events like these expose one thing. Whether conscience or not, this is perceived as a type of evidence to the mind. Increasing faith is as ludicrous concept. It demeans us all. I will from here on out do as Dallin Oaks said, do not read anything that counters the Church position, it ruins the spirit. As a scholar, I must not know the arguments against my position. What the hell. He was my favorite Apostle form a long time. Then he really crossed the line. He went full Nazi. Note to thinking people. If anyone tries to dissuade or convince you from reading all positions FOR, or AGAINST your position, you are dealing with something sinister.

Buzz C I am doubtful. Photos show thousands of green acres and substantial trees. You do not write like a university trained person. Your style is a sort of shotgun attack. You talk of laws of logic (misnomer: logic is a system of thinking). Yet your attacks are too broad and undisciplined. They are illogical. Where did you do your training in archaeology? What level? Can you cite your own writings? Why capitalize the discipline? (Not a mistake a university trained person would make). I suspect you are not credible.

@Dalessiokiller No, that's what I came up with myself by actually reading the scriptures and doing research about the relation between the Latin language, the "romance languages" of Latin in Latin America, and the place Christ was crucified at, Calvary/Golgotha.

Something for nothing fosters a dependency and then an entitlement, said James Goodrich, manager of Welfare Square. We believe people ought to work. But in the current economy, an increasing number of Mormons are finding themselves out of work.

@Dalessiokiller Yep. The information is interesting. People say Native Americans aren't of Jewish descent. The problem is they're talking about Native Americans of the North American region. Look up "spanish portuguese jewish" & you'll see there are people of Central & South America of Jewish descent. Spanish, Portuguese, & French are romance languages of the latin language, in other words, sublanguages of the latin language.
@majinish
@majinish 14 жыл бұрын
The sign that was over Christ when He was crucified "King of the Jews" was in 3 languages, one being Latin. Calvary comes from Latin words and is just outside of ancient Jerusalem. Latin America has "romance languages" of the Latin language meaning their roots are the Latin language. Lehi and his family came out of Jerusalem. Since Latin was one of the languages the sign was in, that means that general area knew at least some form of Latin. How could forms of the language come here? Migration

how can you not like this movie? Does it mean that the Book of Mormon is real? yes... is that why you don't like it? ... truth is hard but real truth doesn't change. Like God is real, He lives, and knows everything. He also loves you and wants you to come home to Him.

Yes, Joseph Smith did see angels and visions-because he was the instrument in Gods hands to restore the same Church of Jesus Christ as existed in primitive times-all of its powers as well as all of its doctrines.

Yet sorrowfully, on occasion, some are willing to set aside the precious gospel truths restored by Joseph Smith because they get diverted on some historical issue or some scientific hypothesis not central to their exaltation, and in so doing they trade their spiritual birthright for a mess of pottage
