You don’t think they’ve been wanting to do that for the past 20 years??? Sony won’t play ball. Spider-Man is their cash cow and as long as they keep making a Morbius every couple years, they get to keep him forever
@ieyke3 ай бұрын
@@cthulhutheendless1587 LOL No. Marvel could EASILY buy back the Spider-Man rights IF they really wanted to. IF they were willing to pay the price, which they can EASILY afford. Disney could buy Sony Pictures as a whole. Spider-Man's rights are peanuts in comparison. Spider-Man is NOT Sony's cash cow. They're BARELY making money with it. AND the only success they have with live-action Spider-Man is in movies that Disney makes FOR Sony. So even Sony's rare successes with Spider-Mans are in name only. Without Disney doing the work for them, Sony is FUCKED. The problem is that Sony Pictures is a failing studio that keeps nearly getting shut down and sold off by Sony, and Spider-Man is one of the only things they have going for them. It's basically their ONLY bargaining chip giving them any sort of power at all. The problem is that Disney CAN buy back the Spider-Man rights, but they just refuse to pay as much as Sony wants for it. Sony wants more than the rights are worth, BECAUSE it's the only real power Sony Pictures has left, even though the rights themselves aren't worth all that much. So Sony keeps making more shitty movies, which makes the Spider-Man rights worth less and less and less and less every time. If/when Sony Pictures shuts down or gets sold off, Disney automatically gets the Spider-Man rights back for free. So Disney is fine with just waiting to see if Sony Pictures collapses or to see them drive the value of the Spider-Man rights completely into the ground. Sony is playing a losing game and are thus far caught in a death spiral. BUT, Sony MAY have finally figured out a path to success moving forward. Maybe. Which means Disney needs to reevaluate their stance on not buying back the Spider-Man rights. Disney's plan of just letting Sony hilariously make a mess and shit all over themselves has been really effective so far, but now it's really time to just bite the bullet and buy back the rights.
@laceisaverb3 ай бұрын
@@cthulhutheendless1587 But I think if Venom 3 bombs as badly as Madame Webb and Morbius, there's a chance Sony will come to the table, because at this point they're sinking hundreds of millions into movies just to hold onto the rights, at a certain point the risk will outweigh the rewards. Or the investment won't be worth the profit margins, in other words.

Sony unfortunately has no reason to release their death grip on these rights. They will keep making movies so infamously bad that enough people will watch them to laugh at them and get Sony back to even, strictly to stop the rights from reverting back to Disney. The profit from the MCU licensing is far too high for them to let go of it. They'll break even spending 300m to make three shitty movies, and then make 500m easy profit when Disney decides they need another Spidey flick. It's a shitty situation that I wish Sony would just give up on or Disney would pay out, but neither seem willing to do so. That said, I actually do really like Venom Let There Be Carnage. It seems very self aware and as such it's so silly and fast paced that it's never boring, which was Madame Web's biggest sin.

Spider-Man/Venom, Spider-Man/Morbius, Spider-Man/Punisher, Spider-Man/Daredevil. All of those would be great. They would have to be competently done, but Sony has done that in the past. Miles is there as sort of a sidekick helping his dad with the junk yard and learns about the plot and wants to help out. Big fight happens, and the prowler wins the day and then in the sequel you introduce miles.

I don't agree with why we can't have 2 different Spidermans in different universes. We are now about to have 2 different batmans in separate universes with Pattinson being one and James guns batman. Some of the spidy villains do have a rich enough origin or story lines to carry their own movies its just Sony's incompetence preventing this from happening. Sony's biggest problem is trying to make money quick over quality. Even with Disney not having a poor run at the moment they know having Spiderman mix with other characters is a cash cow. It's good they have allowed Spiderman to join the MCU however if they put more thought and time and effort in getting to know the source material could very well make some movie magic. Even mix several different story lines could work. For their own Avengers style team up movie you could have the spider-family vs a multiversal sinister six.

Blade Trinity had a budding Deadpool and a vampire Pomeranian. I rest my case.

They should just make a Silk movie

Why did it sound like my guy had a personal beef with the venom movies or the characters 😂

Joker was only a passable movie because they took two Scorsese and stitched them together on a bankable method actor in Phoenix. Those films they ripped off by the way are The King of Comedy and Taxi Driver just in case anyone wants to take notes and fact check me on how much DNA those movies share. Also the production and director of the film basically drummed up a fake controversy about it being a movie "THE MAN DOESNT WANT YOU TO SEE!" Trying to make it seem edgy, taboo or transgressive. When really its not. Honestly the film is passable because they copied the homework of a good director and not enough people are media literate enough to notice how truly offensive it is for people struggling with mental health. Hell it even tries to make the same point as The Killing Joke comic that everyone is one bad day away from being just another Joker. But the thing is not even the comic made the point. Joker FAILED TO BREAK JIM GORDON! He failed to make another guy like him.

I don't know why there is so much hate for Blade Trinity I thought that movie was kick ass and I like that they brought in the original Dracula and he was Kick-Ass too. The movie was awesome I said before I don't understand or get why people don't like it

I watched this video to the end just to see if the word "Spider-Verse" was going to be mentioned. Despite a small clip of ITSV footage, it was not. Feels like a notable omission; almost intentional, even.

What's your point?

@@campbell412 The Spider-Verse movies seem like an incredibly relevant part of Sony's Spider-Man strategy, yet this video basically doesn't address them at all.
@campbell4122 ай бұрын
@@redvenomweb obviously it's a video concerning the villain led movies of the Sony marvel universe. I actually like the idea of a Joker style take on one of the Spider-Man villains.
@redvenomweb2 ай бұрын
@@campbell412 I think this video is about the whole Sony Spider-Man franchise, not just the villain movies. Villain movies aren't covered until 2/3rds of the way through the video.

Does Sony have to make a Spider Man related movie to retain the rights? If they didn’t put a clause in the contract to protect them while Spider Man is leased to the MCU they deserve to lose him (well they deserve due to incompetence).

Here is what I don't understand. There are other Spiderman hero characters they have access to and could anchor the universe around. Why not center this universe around 'a' Spider-Woman? Or Miles? Or center it around Venom as a full hero considering his first movie actually made money.

You’re completely forgetting about the Spider-Verse films.

Its all a moot point when you look at the video game revenue from the Spiderman license.
