It’s just WB and CW not being confident to adapt these characters accurately thus why Arrow is essentially Batman lite with Green Arrow trappings and Supergirl really was just girl Superman when both characters while similar are different from Batman and Superman respectively. Hell I would argue WB, CW and even DC still doesn’t know how to market WONDER WOMAN accurately yet

A Gotham Academy show would probably get the Riverdale treatment… but for once that wouldn’t be so bad. It could be weird and campy and ridiculous… but the setting would support it (the bad writing less so, but you can only ask so much of the CW). I could definitely get behind this idea if the CW handled it, but the ‘teen’ part of teen drama on the CW has been lacking for SO LONG. Even way back in _Smallville_ they had teen Lana Lang dating adults like her coach and marrying Lex Luthor. So school stuff always seems to get icky, I wonder if a teacher-focused Gotham Academy, with them worried about shadowy rich parents and budding good/evil kids who will shape Gotham’s future, could change that. Plenty of drama, plenty of room for weird and stupid stuff, hopefully a lot less (positive) age gap/power gap crap they love to fall back on.

I agree with most of the video, but I don’t think that Bruce’s adopted son nobody knows is such a bad thing, because the same was done with Terry Mcginnis who didn’t exist before the Batman Beyond show. Now of course, the writing was different and Bruce Wayne was there to help building up the character. The fact Bruce isn’t there for at least one episode just to develop this supposed son is a poor choice.

I think the governing thought for Warner Brothers for many many years has been "Thou shalt not have a TV show starring a member of the Trinity." Prior to Superman & Lois, there hasn't been a Superman show since Lois & Clark. Smallville was not Superman, it was "Clark before Superman" - hence the "no flights, no tights" rule. They finally broke the rule by letting Superman appear in Supergirl for a couple of episodes. Why did they have Arrow? Because they "couldn't" do Batman, so they had some other rich dude with no superpowers have a show. And then you get "Team Arrow" (to match "Team Batman":) Diggle: Alfred Sarah (Canary): Batwoman Felicity: Oracle Sarah (Post Lazarus pit): Jason Todd Laurel (Black Canary): Catwoman Thea (Speedy): Batgirl Roy Harper: Dick Grayson There was the never-broadcast Wonder Woman pilot and the Wonder Girl show didn't get green lit. Prior to Superman and Lois, DC TV has had an inferiority complex. They just didn't want to try to deal with the Trinity.

Completely agree, but I’d switch around Sara and Laurel. Laurel has more of a Batwoman angle, whereas I’d say Sara had a Catwoman vibe early on (especially when she lived in the clock tower with Sin, who reminded me of Holly)

honestly, I would've been fine with them turning a random dc character into batman if it wasn't green arrow. There's hundreds of unknown dc characters they could use, like spartan. Make Yohn kohl a rich dude from a crime ridden city where his parents were killed on a bridge, and he disappears for years only to return as the spartan. They could've saved green arrow for later as a proper adaptation.

I feel like you could condense that whole setup into one episode, add some extra scenes for the villains' kids to give them setup, and then end the episode with Turner being arrested for Bruce's murder. Episode one would end with an inciting incident, and then episode two brings the show's premise to fruition. This was how Stargirl got off to a strong start in season 1.

I’m only gonna watch this show because I love the characters in the comics (Stephanie and Duela in particular) and have been waiting for their Character Debuts forever (Like, main characters, Batwoman doesn’t count). Also why didn’t they make Duela Dent Harvey Dent’s daughter in this show? That would’ve been cool. Like pristine Harvey Dent’s Daughter is a psychotic Delinquent/Joker fanatic. Also Carrie making her on screen live action debut will be cool. But it feels like that’s all this shows banking off. Comic nerds seeing a character they recognise, and thus watching the show.

I really think the WB / discovery or whoever needs to take a chance on someone that they can actually show on the small screen. The problem with Batman and any Batman related show is that he will never be a fully fleshed out character on television. It's just something that WB will never allow to happen as long as the character is immensely popular and making billions of dollars at the box office. I really think that it's time to stop trying to make Batman shows on TV. DC has an enormous amount of characters that they can build very intricate stories around and the stories aren't going to break the bank. They just figured that it's too much of a risk if the character isn't in some way tied to Gotham City. I really wish that DC would take a chance on a character like the question or midnighter or any other type of vigilante character where it doesn't cost a lot of money to make them and they can tell really good solid stories.

Look the main issue is that for a long time, CW didn't have full rights to Batman. Hell even Gotham couldn't use the names Batman and Joker, and it was literally about the character's origins. Why else did Arrow's early seasons feature so many B-list Batman rogues and the League of Shadows?

I feel like sometime in the next few years we're going to get proper Batman show. WB already tried for the last years to avoid having him in shows, and now even in games. Its been a few failures from them and will be more. I suspect the 2 games coming will still be lower than Arkham mainly because no Batman. With the success of The Batman and evrn the fact the fans want Batfleck back, WB might finally stop being afraid and finally give us proper Batman media, with Batman a main character

About halfway through the trailer I didn't mind the set up of how the other kids get pulled into the conspiracy, and the action looked great. But by the end, it felt like one person wrote a good pilot script for something else and different writer was like, -"but wait add these made up Gotham kids from my headcanon!".
