This one video has confirmed everything I suspected about my own skin. I have surface symptoms from lupus, and since childhood I have questioned the “bumpy, chicken skin” on the backs of my arms, my upper thighs, and my under eyes. Hi Nerida, I've just today been to the dermatologist in my city and she told me that on the scale from 1 to 10 how dirty my skin is, she said that I am number 10. I have clogged pores all over my face, whiteheads, blackheads, scars and that my skin is very oily but dehydrated. I have scheduled first facial treatment in 3 days and the dermatologist said something about how the face cleaning will take about 6 months and I will have to use some antibiotics (I am not happy about that at all because the last time I was taking antibiotics I got vaginal candidiasis). The problem started when I turned 20 and moved to the bigger city because of the studies. I started eating very bad food, snacks (chips everyday), started sweating a lot more and I guess my skin started to produce more oil. Then I started to notice a lot of blackheads on my cheeks, which I tried to take out but it only got worse and I ended up having acne, pimples and scars because of the blackheads. It's been 4 years since then, I've never done any facial treatment or professional cleaning, but I clean my face every morning and night with washing gel (without foam) and then I use day/night creme for dehydrated skin. I am worried because dermatologist said that food I eat doesn't have much impact on my skin (but I think it does) and I am not sure about taking antibiotics. I would like to hear some other opinion as there are no other dermatologists in my city. Thank you Nerida

None. I do not prescribe toners for oily/combinations skins. Toners are a treatment that can be used as a stimulant or hydration treatment for dryer skins. Hi Nerida, I’ve just recently discovered your channel and am loving your videos! So much detail. From watching your videos I was thinking of looking into getting a retinol product. Do you have any suggestions on what brands are good? I’m a 23 year old woman that gets hormonal cystic acne and white heads, if that narrows down a selection :)

Hi nerida! My brother he has dry skin like me but he has a lot of breakouts and some black heads. His skin is doing a little better, He’s never felt oily though. I have a question , what do You think about clients who use ultrasonic brushes to exfoliate ?

What I don't understand is why did my derm tell me to use cerve, foaming cleanser when I have extremely oily skin? It's like she doesn't want me to get better. Do you have any suggestions for cleanser? I have acne rosecea, I'm using cerve foaming cleanser and metro gel am & pm, that's all my derm told me to use 😑 also she has me on BC and doxy, and doing light therapy once a month. It's very costly and I'm not sure I'm seeing results, it's been 4 months now since I started this routine. My skin is also very itchy ALWAYS, like bugs crawling I don't know, it's been driving me crazy! Please any suggestions if I should continue would be so helpful! Thank you!

What is your stance on oil or balm cleansers with surfactants that is then removed with a warm wash cloth? Some ppl say they noticed less congestion with them so I'm debating whether I should go in that direction in order to deal with my sebaceous filaments.
@NeridaJoySkincare5 жыл бұрын
They are not all equal...some will be good and some not. You just have to try them from what you have learned and understand about your own personal skin needs and its condition. Did you try the rejuvi K cleanser?
@kaystary5 жыл бұрын
Nerida Joy I'm currently using the elf bounce cleanser that is non foaming for the past 3weeks. Recently found a complex aha but haven't incorporated it into my routine yet. Also found a moisturizer that's repairing my barrier. I thought may be I was missing out on oil cleansers since so many say it works for congestion but I think I need to stick to my new routine.

If you are cleansing correctly, in many cases toners are not needed. Toners have a purpose...I give say a hydrating or brightening toner to dryer skin types sometimes. But most of my clients do not use toners:))

Hi there! Wondering if you or anyone could help me out. I use to have insanely oily skin and large pores until i moved to a city that has hard water. Now my skin has redness to the cheeks, it's flaky and textured, and produces little to no oil along with tightness and burning after washing and moisturizing. I just turned 25 so i don't know if it's a combination of aging and hard water or the wrong products. I don't know what to do. Sorry if this is a bother but if anyone has any tips other then washing my face with distilled water, that would be great. Thanks!
@NeridaJoySkincare5 жыл бұрын
do you have little bumps on the top backs of your arms(KP)? sounds like a chemical burn...tell me your daily regimen. Could also be rosacea, eczema or dermatitis, heat from internal inflammation. Do you have any little bumps on the checks? Has your diet changed at all?
@TheKDmatthews5 жыл бұрын
My diet hasn’t changed much other than i wasn’t drinking much water for awhile but i’ve changed that. Staying hydrated has helped but it’s this weird texture, redness, and tightness that still bothers me, fine lines are more prominent with foundation on now. It’s not bumps, it feels like thick patches of dried skin, if that makes any sense. I don’t have any acne or oil anymore but my pores are still large. Right now all I use is Burts Bees Oil Cleanser and I’m trying to finish up a bottle of Sheer Moisturizer that i used when my skin was oily, key Ingredients in it are vitamin e, vitamin b3, and red marine algea. With the city water being treated, sometimes i can smell chlorine in it, could i get a chemical burn from the water?
@coffeelover46425 жыл бұрын
For the hard water, try rinsing with distilled water.

What about a powder exfoliant such as Dermalogica Daily Microfoliant?
@NeridaJoySkincare5 жыл бұрын
I have never used it. Is it drying?
@Mslector5 жыл бұрын
It is kind of drying mostly to my cheeks (which are dry/itchy). You add water to it and it turns into a foam. The more water you add the more gentle the exfoliant is. It contains Rice powder and salicylic acid. Its similar to Tatcha's powder exfoliant and AmorePafic treatment Enzyme.

I probably shouldn't be using it. I just wanted your expert opinion. I hope one day I can get a facial by you before my face falls off, lol!
