Use This HACK! CHOCOLATE Cake Mix HACK + Frosting HACK

This cake mix hack uses a couple substitutions and additions of secret ingredients that make this cake stand out from the rest. And the best part, it is EASY! The recipe and things I used are below.

Chocolate Cake Mix Hack
-preheat oven to 325 degrees
-1 box of chocolate cake mix (I like Duncan Hines Devils Food)
(add 4 Tbls of extra cake mix if using 13.25 oz. cake mix)
-Substitute 1 cup room temp coffee instead of 1 cup water
-Substitute 1 cup of melted butter instead of 1/2 cup oil
-Add 1 extra egg (4 if using Duncan Hines Devils Food)
-Add 1 small box of instant chocolate pudding mix
-Add 1/4 cup Hershey's chocolate syrup
-Mix until just combined
-Last mix in 1/2 cup of mini chocolate chips
-fill greased cake/muffin pans of choice 1/2 - 2/3 full
-bake until toothpick comes out clean (cupcakes will bake about 15 minutes, cake layers will bake around 25-30 minutes depending on the size)
-cover and freeze cakes when still warm
Store-bought Chocolate Frosting Hack
-Add 2-containers of Duncan Hines, milk chocolate frosting to a mixing bowl
-Add 2 Tbls room temperature coffee
-Add 3/4 cup of powdered sugar
-Add 1 tsp of vanilla extract
-if it's too sweet, add a pinch of salt
-cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours before frosting

@NerissaNikole It really is an absolute blessing to still have your grandma and to be able to gift her with that awesome cake! And how ironic it is about the butterscotch cake! Mine and my twin sister's 69th birthday is in a couple of weeks, and since I have to make my own birthday cake if I want a homemade one, I have to make it myself. But since my back no longer lets me do wedding cakes or any event cakes now, I enjoy doing a much smaller cake in the flavor and design of MY choice. And the two flavors I've been trying to decide between are caramel and BUTTERSCOTCH! So I'm looking forward to seeing your butterscotch cake, I know it will be delicious! 😘 Oh, but no pressure on the time - If you don't get a chance to do it by then, it'll just give me a good excuse to make both flavors on different days. Yes! That will be perfect! Make it first, then add as a liquid.

Can you taste the coffee? I hate the taste of coffee with a passion, so that would ruin the cake to me if you can taste it.
