Honestly I think that it should be coming within the next few months! There have been quite a few clues already (like what happened with Gondwa), specifically I mean such as one of the loading screens shows a pair of Albertaceratops over a nest of eggs, Gondwa has nests scattered around the map in hidden spots and alongside that some of the trailers did seem to slightly hint at it (I believe it was the Rex trailer?) But yeah, I definitely think it's coming within a few months!

Considering Matt said in September on Discord that nesting is coming soon, and how much Matt seems to strive to not over-promise as The Isle does, the word soon to me does mean sooner rather than later, along with the console trailer including nesting in it and nests being added around Gondwa and in the Tutorial Cave. But I am still very thrown on predictions as nesting is supposed to come after the Full Release and we still have the new Combat System to be implemented along with Matt wanting AI to come before the Full Release, we also have no idea as to how far along AI development is. Considering nesting is planned for after Full Release and AI they are hoping to have before, along with Matt saying you will be able to nest in AI, I can't form a prediction until we hear more about AI development or have to wait for AI to be implemented to be able to have an idea on when nesting will come. I am very much looking forward to having Nesting in-game, and am very curious as to what mechanics they are building for it as Matt has said that nesting isn't going to work how people think it will.

Thing is about Kaiawekea is that it’s very likely that instead of laying eggs plesiosaurs gave live birth. This is the same for 2 other creatures in the games aquatic roster Tylosaurus and that Icthyosaur. So having have to come onto land to nest would be a weird gameplay option for them. Instead they should either not have “nesting” at all for aquatics or have a slightly more complicated “nesting” system for aquatics that requires live birth.

I really do wish along with nesting we got a sort of family tree system, at least as a mod, not necessary but it would be really nice detail. You could see player name of your parents, the dinosaurs name, who are you siblings, their names and genders and then in the future you own children as well. It would just be very fun to see how connected you are with other players. I also wish for there to be a system (again a mod even idc), that would allow you to inherit not skins but colors. Through a rare chance you'd be able to inherit a color or two from your parents chosen colors during nesting which your skin normally cannot select. I would love to go on nesting sessions with my friends seeing if we can possibly nest some special colors

I think nesting will come sooner than next September because it was partially shown in the Gondwa trailer. I think this means that the dev team are looking into making nesting one of the next couple of updates.

They did say that a combat overhaul is coming and we can expect unique moves/abilities for every dino. I’d say that’s the biggest game changer for PoT just because how many people play for pvp

Yea pvp sucks at the moment for me. Fighting as apexs seems fine for the most part but smaller and mid tier creatures are hell to fight as and they all feel the same. Aswell as some of the horrible balancing(poor pycno why must you be so weak)

have you seen prehistoric planet? Well for one of the flyers, which I forgot the name of, had a nest with lots of seaweed and the baby had to climb out and climb to the top of the cliff. I think it would be cool to have seaweed nests to keep the eggs warm

Me and my friends discuss out theories about the nesting system and why its taking so long... My friend group agree having it randomly select traits from either parent (skin, colors etc) would be a good way to get a random unique skin and gives players a reason to want to be nested.

I'm sure nesting will be more interesting than this. There's already a leak of 40+ Skills that will be added to the game, 20-30 already have descriptions. Perhaps inheriting certain skills at a younger age would be more reasonable? Maybe there's skills you only gain by going certain world quests and achievements? It sure looks like a lot of these skills are universal.

It was wiser to make the skin inherited from one of the parents or mix their colors to create a unique skin, but at the same time so that all other skins were closed, otherwise I don't see the point in a nest if only a subspecies is inherited from the parents, and there is no other bonus.

I hope that the courtship at least will be like how some of the animals in Raptor Red do. The ankylosaurids doing the lek, the drones dairies doing the courtship dance and etc. For the nesting tho I hope that small predators and herbivores will have to make a small nest and cover it with ferns, and for the medium size Dinos that they will do something like the small but with less ferns on top and the big and apexes to have the least ferns on top but the largest nest of them all.

Nesting is gonna be good for path of titans I feel like it could be released sometime in 2023 and dinosaurs on land will probably use dirt or something like that in the picture you showed us and some leaves and flyers and aquatics will use different material like with pterosaurs they will use sticks and put their nests on cliffs where predators can’t get them and kaiwhekea Will probably use sand on land instead of water since they’re air breathing reptiles but I know the mystery dinosaur could be a joke but I think it could be Oviraptor since we will be having eggs and nests and it could be shed to tell a sub species dinosaur form a male to a female and we will be able to use any subspecies with either gender and nesting could be released to 2023 so let’s hope we get it soon! I don’t see a reason for a player to hatch out of an egg unless it comes with some sort of benefits like skins that cannot be obtained through the normal shed menu or some stat system (that would definitely change the way we know the game). Unless the hatchies end up just being AI to complete quests idk.

I believe they should change any marine reptile to sleep or "bask" on land. With how they have the first pleseasaur only able to sleep under water doesn't make sense in my mind. I know crocs and gators in actuality rest both on land and in water, so I'd like them to be able to do that. As for the nesting. I believe a more live birth system would be more fitting. Due to nests being easy to raid by land predators if eggs are laid. Or maybe a sea turtle like experience with "hiding" the eggs. 🤔

That makes no sense due to the physiology of the marine creatures. Like whales they would very likely suffocate under the weight of their own bodies. Their limb structure wouldn’t allow them to support the weight of their bodies while moving across land so they’d just be easy prey when beached.

I dont know how nesting could get implemented into the gameplay loop, like if im done growing any dino what is the point ? And if your dino dies well, you do not start from scratch like in the isle, witch makes nesting irrelevant sadly. I think the major issue is the lack of said gameplay loop, there's a start yes but once you're adult and unlock the skins that you wanted what do you next? Lets hope that the quest update is gonna shape up the game alongside combat balance in the best possible way

Aw yes something more for the kosing groups to do 😂😭 if baby killers were bad before they definitely will be once this comes out, maybe the developers should add in a damage buff while a baby so that you can’t get hurt or run over by pack members. It would help! Especially when we use the larger ones for safety when we are little it would make sense to set it up so that depending on the age you don’t take trample damage from group members only. That way we can hide and not be run over by our own homies 😂😂

Sounds cool but will it honestly be a meaningful addition? IE: Is it worth devoting developing time towards? Considering how PVP has devolved into "who's got more people" I feel like nesting may not be feasible/possible. How can parents defend it when say...attackers dramatically outnumber them? Additionally, if we can't retain skins, make skins, etc. Then it seems like a: "Why bother?" Type of addition. Leta say there are nesting exclusive skins. Once someone unlocks them...well...that's that. (IE: Lifespan of the feature seems limited.) Not trying to be negative. Trying to ask legitimate questions. We know combat changes are top priority alongside quest changes (they really, really need to shake up questing...although I think AI dinos are the missing element impo as they would make hunting acorns, nuts, sticks, and berries more dangerous). In addition to this, they'll need to make fresh water more available (Gondwa mainly), otherwise everyone's nests will be within an arms throw of what few fresh water sources their are (and odds are the water quality will be crap as a result). 🤔 I see more issues than solutions come to think of it. I dunno Velo, you think the Devs will dramatically change some aspects of the game in order to make this feature viable? (Maybe killing eggs, hatchlings, & juvis inflicts a debuff or xp penalty?)

i think this is where community server rules come in. as a realism player, nesting would be HUGE as you don't have to leave your territory to nest and can instead spend more time with the babies as they grow (plus its more realistic) it's good for semi-realism + hardcore realism, not so much for no-rules (ofc there are exceptions, like nesting in a friend so that u spawn close to eachother w/o having to risk waystoning)

@@woogawoo I full on agree that Nesting is really going help Community Servers. But only due to the strict rules the servers can have. Nesting worries me for Official Servers. Like how is it possibly going to work? It'll be impossible to not only raise hatchlings, but to have a nest. Just imagine having a nest...you're going to be attacked by a minimum of 2 or 3 people. Add in the Canni/Troll players. I just don't see it being a success on Official servers. Juvi killing is already out of control on them. With nests, you essentially tether players in place, and you force them to defend a spot to the death. (Easy trophies) That said, growing from hatchling, to juvi, to adol, to sub, to adult. That's alot of quests and a lot of deaths. The salt of global chat is going to hit critical mass. Let's take The Isle Evrima for example. Nesting was Dead on Arrival. I can't recall the last time I saw anyone nest in it. Many say it isn't worth it because food is too scarce. Better to spawn fresh and be near food (ai).

I'm kinda concerned over how they had the nest in the homecave for the rex trailer...but then again the rex trailer was absolutely horrid so who knows. I would hope there is no any sort of "courting" in this game. It's just too awkward. If there isn't any inheritance system, what does it matter who the partner really is. For some quests? Most adults don't need the quests other than for skins..... Oh god I hope the horrid mark rewards on gondwa aren't hinting towards it being already balanced towards mark rewards from nesting. Can't wrap my head around the mark problem really. On officials, on panjura one gets roughly 10 k marks from simply growing. Now I know this shit because I only do officials. On Panjura it's about 10 k if you don't die. Die few times you at around 8 k. How much do I get on gondwa after growing? About 2 k. I assume about 5 k if I don't die. That's insane difference. If it's balanced towards nesting and not in fact a huge communal torture event from the devs....I hate it. Torturing us is fine, I enjoy the little time of agony, but I do not want this to be the norm forever.

Honestly nesting is kinda pointless on this game since none of your creatures can really die, just go back a little bit in growth. On the isle there's a purpose for it, it's safer to grow with a group and you're constantly needing to grow something. On PoT, most people already have the one's they're going to play other than brand new players and there's no real sense in growing a new one just because when you already have an adult ready to go.
