I think that if I were a paraplegic, I would definitely be more than willing to get one and consider myself lucky, and thankful beyond the stars. If I were blind I would feel the same, I would be able to actually see my dreams come true.

I think you're probably right. Its terrifying for most of us, because all we hear is what could go wrong. Whereas, if we couldn't see or move, all we would hear is the promise of a "normal" life. All about perspective.

Things just keep getting weirder.... Maybe I'm getting old but I'm a bit terrified of where this could go. Anyone who is poor won't be able to afford one leaving people even more disadvantaged. Then you have robots whose goal is to become smarter than humans. If that happened they wouldn't need human engineering any longer. Is this the first phase of us becoming extinct? The answer is thank you!! Keep going, ignore the naysayers. I know of 4 blind people that could benefit from this. I can’t imagine how happy they themselves, their mother’s, and families will be if they could restore their vision. I grew up in the church and Joni Eareckson Tada - in 2019 “52 years in a wheelchair is a long time” she’s one of my child hood heros became a quadriplegic after a childhood diving accident. I own one of her paintings. My soon to be ex husband doesn’t complain about his cochlear implant when it restored his ability to hear. After watching someone depend on changing 1000’s of hearing aid batteries a rechargeable device makes sense. He lost his hearing as a child having unsuccessful surgeries over the years to restore it.
